Nice spa and good for golfPosted Nov 6, 2014
The hotel it's self I wasn't blown away by for £200 a night me and my partner expected a lot more then was given, we stayed in a Hampton 10minutes away on the Sunday night before we arrived at Celtic manor at just £49 it was as good as the room in Celtic manor. The spa and golf courses were amazing and I would highly recommend them but would suggest to stay in a different hotel. We booked a table at la patio restaurant in the Manor House and they were half hour late seating us and then are starter came out cold and an hour after ordering it we wasn't happy at all so gave up and left, it was clearly understaffed as I saw two tables that hadnt been cleared the whole time we was sat there! We then went back to the hotel restaurant 'the olive tree' and the service was brilliant he saw to our needs straight away, and the food was lovely.

A touch of luxury.Posted Oct 30, 2014
Pros: The ambience; spa facilities.
Cons: Checking in time - make it earlier.
Location: Only stayed for the night then travelled back to Cornwall.
My wife and I have looked up at Celtic Manor countless times as we travel from Cornwall to Wales, so for once we decided to stay there. Wow - the foyer was spectacular and the rest of the hotel to boot. Our room was super - large with a comfortable bed and delightfully quiet. The Forum facilities - pool, sauna etc was great - the best we've enjoyed ever. Breakfast was good and the staff most attentive, but we were glad the cost was part of our package. One slight confusion came over parking in the under hotel car park - chargeable, though we believed it to be part of our Expedia deal. The free parking is open air we discovered, but we couldn't fault the staff who waived the £10 fee. All in all our stay was really good, but why is check-in not until 4 p.m.when check-out is 11 a.m. Mercure offers 2 p.m. check-in and check-out @ 12 noon. Perhaps one for the Celtic Manor to consider. Would we return again? Yes, I think we shall.

Lovely night away, but room didn't live up to restPosted Oct 6, 2014
Lovely hotel, very grand and elegant, but I failed to see any grandeur in our room. I have since found out we were in the old part, but king size comfort is not 2 single beds fixed together! Restaurant was absolutely gorgeous and made our night, but if you have a dress code everyone should abide to it!

Lovely hotel, shame about the hitchesPosted Sep 30, 2014
Booking with Expedia was fine but CM then rang, and insisted I booked a different date. left to ring expedia, who assured me I had booked correctly. told to contact hotel myself again. On ringing CM told first CM rep wrong. Booked afternoon tea but double checked next day- reservation not made. Check in was simple and friendly. Room spacious, with fab view. movie selection great. Ordered room service- lovely, but missing sauce. However on ringing reception it was brought immediately with lots of apologies. quiet room, pretty comfy bed and air con kept the night comfortable. Breakfast was great with plenty of choice. Recommend the pancakes with choc cream!! Pool and Spa were very relaxing and we'll equipped. Afteenoon tea was yummy and good value, but service was a bit strange. Food came out v quickly but after half an hour we had to ask for the actual tea... Took about 10-15mins after asking. It wasn't busy, the waitress completely forgot. Express Check out was simple, but had.to go back when realised we were charged £10 for parking and expedia confirmation clearly states the package included free parking. Reception staff told us there is a free car park further away and signage on driving in. Explained since our confirmation stated free parking package we presumed ticket would be validated and staff didn't mention at check in. Very patronising staff member, but after expressing our frustration didn't have to pay. Lovely hotel but these hitches ruined somewhat.

Great resortPosted Sep 20, 2014
Pros: Staff and the regular room size is very good.
We just stayed one night. Staff were excellent, facility is huge, with all you'd expect from a lare resort hotel. If your a golfer you have just found heaven. Well worth a visit.

Perfect get awayPosted Sep 17, 2014
Our visit to the hotel was a birthday treat for my partner and was the perfect break. Very high standards with superb professional friendly staff. Couldn't have asked for any more.

Great place to stay, even if you don't play golf!Posted Sep 17, 2014
Pros: Room, Bed, Staff, Gym and breakfast!
Cons: If we were going to be really picky, you can hear the motorway road noise very clearly when the door is open!
Location: Golf obviously... Cardiff nearby and on a long trip it's a good place to break the journey as it's so easy to get to from the motorway.
As a last minute arrangement, we didn't know what we would be allocated, but when we got there we were upgraded to a bigger room with a huge bed. The gym is great and the pool looked lovely too (we didn't have time to take advantage of it though). The breakfast is particularly good... and staff are friendly and helpful

Great Stay!Posted Sep 7, 2014
Pros: Setting, Service, Cleanliness, Golf Courses, Health Club
Cons: Nothing in particular - all seemed good.
Location: Location is superb. Set in 2,000 acres with three championship golf courses and views of the Welsh hills all around.
We recently fulfilled one of our 'must do's' by staying for a long weekend at the Celtic Manor. This is something we have been looking to do for quite some time, and when we finally got there, it certainly didn't disappoint. Beautiful Hotel, nice rooms and all very clean. The staff throughout the Hotel were very welcoming, friendly and attentive. We spent a whole day walking around the grounds and the three championship golf courses, and experienced the three clubhouses (there is one per course). Good choice of restaurants, so for our 'special' meal we chose Le Patio - a french bistro type restaurant. Had a great meal with a good bottle of wine and experienced excellent service from a very professional waiter. Health Club and swimming pool were very good as well - good way of working off the plentiful buffet breakfast! Disappointed when we had to leave - will certainly be going back.

DisappointingPosted Sep 2, 2014
Cons: Rooms and service
Location: location good near to Cardiff
Location OK, Staff un-friendly and dismissive. Hotel room poor for a 5 star resort, bed very poor with 'springs' of mattress felt through bed sheets. Bathroom silicone/grout around the tiles missing and not sealed. Room generally not very clean. Breakfast - staff dismissive and un approachable. Quality of breakfast OK - had better at other hotels

A very large, impressive hotel.Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: The spa, the scale, the design, the staff.
Cons: There were cigarette butts (from previous guests) left on the balcony. Sorry, but that's good enough for a five star hotel.
Location: Very well connected to main roads.
Very nice staff and excellent facilities. I went with my wife as a birthday treat and had a very nice time. The spa is to be recommended.
