“Perfect !”

Really enjoyed my stay at the Sandringham Hotel in Cardiff, Wales, and here's why. The staff were very kind. I was vacationing, needed access to the internet, didn't have my computer; The manager was willing to let me sit in his office to use his computer. THAT my friends, is customer service. - Also, The hotel is very centrally located. You can walk to anywhere in town.Room was clean, beds comfortable, with lots of towels and a great flat screen in the room. Very close to the train station. If you are on a limited budget this is the hotel to stay in. If I had one complaint, it's that it was a little (little) noisy with pub patrons exiting late in the evening. No biggie, just wanted to make mention.

“Good location, good value.”

It's in a good location, about a 5 minute walk from Cardiff Central Railway Station and less than 5 minutes from the main retail precinct (St Davids). Lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Tesco Express is next door for any grocery needs, although there's no fridge in the room so you can't keep perishables. The rate was very good value, especially as breakfast and wifi net access was included. Note that hotel reception is on the 1st floor. Overall, I recommend it, with a few caveats.

“"Loved Cardiff!"”

As described on the home page, this hotel is a small family owned business. There is no elevator, bell hop, room service, air conditioning. But I had all I needed with the staff's help and was comfortable enough. The location is truely the center of town and the young people gather there every night. The noise they create is minimal and well drowned out by the fan in the room. Its such a central location hotel that Charles and Camilla drove right past while on their parade route.

“Nice staff - nice room - lots of stairs - internet was useless”

I traveled all around the UK for about 3 weeks and Sandringham was one of the better values of all the hotels I used. The location is great and the staff was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was adequate and the room was clean and comfortable. The hotel has no lift and guest should be prepared to lug suitcases up lots of stairs - not a big deal to me but should be noted. Also, free wifi didn't exist. They have some weird password protection that prevented me from using it at all. I've used the wifi at about 30 hotels in the past 6 months and this was the ONLY hotel where I was completely unable to gain access.

“good value and location”

This family owned hotel was fine for our needs for the first night in Cardiff. It is not luxurious, but clean and adequate. It does not have air-conditioning, but a fan was in the room and it didn't matter because we were there in October. Parking in a nearby garage is available. The best aspect is the fact that it is in an excellent location, within walking distance of the castle. A walkway street without cars is nearby. We felt safe staying here in a new city and country.
