A paradise!
Posted Jan 27, 2013
This was our 2nd time at Cariblue. We love it everytime. This place is gorgeous right across from the beach. The staff is incredible, friendly, always ready to help. The free breakfast is outstanding and wil fill you up for the all day. The dinner menu is a little pricy but very good. The housekeeping is very good and makes you feel welcome each day with little surprises. The hotel is very well secured. The property is well manicured with a great collection of tropical plants, trees and animals. You will wake up to the sounds of birds, monkeys and waves. If you seeking peace, relaxation and nature, this is the place! Also if you have a chance, get a massage!

Great hotel and better location
Posted Jan 6, 2013
Pros: The staff was great. Every hotel we stayed at in Costa Rica has helpful staff but Cariblue was the best.
Location: Visit the Jaguar rescue center. They let you in the monkey cage to play with the animals.
I can't say enough about how great this place was. The room was good and ours had AC. The grounds are amazing and their was always a security guard on duty but I never really felt unsafe in the area. The pool looks great but didn't sit by it much. If you want to just sit at a pool at be brought drinks then you don't belong in Costa Rica. The location is perfect, across the street from a good beach and a 15 minute walk to town. Breakfast was good but skip the restaurant for lunch or dinner.

Melvin made our stay!
Posted Jan 16, 2013
Pros: Melvin and the girls at the desk, pool and ping pong tables, proximity to beach and town.
Cons: Dampness!
Location: Great proximity to beach and town although as we had kids with us we didn't feel the road was safe enough to travel by bicycle.
When we arrived we were told that they didn't know that we were bringing 2 children. They charged us more when we got there. This is despite the fact that on our confirmation from Expedia it said that we were 2 adults and 2 children. This was very disappointing. The staff was generally great and Melvin the waiter was exceptional. He is not only very professional and an expert at what he does but he is a great person too! We experienced bad luck with the weather so linens, towels and everything were perpetually damp as there is no air conditioning in the rooms but this is not the fault of the hotel. My suggestion is to take advantage of the last minute cancellations and if the weather is not going to be good to head somewhere dry instead. Lots to do and see in the area and beach just across from hotel is exceptional.

Enjoy nature in a safe clean setting.
Posted Jan 5, 2013
Pros: My favorite thing about this hotel was the natural setting and space to enjoy the birds.
Location: This is a nice location because it is outside the busy town of Puerto Viejo but close enough to walk to if you want to explore the local bars/shop.
We were very happy with this hotel. The cabins were in a lush forest park setting and were clean and cute. The mosaic design in the tiles was interesting. The beds were comfortable. Nothing was really fancy in the room, but that wasn't what we were looking for. We were in one of the wooden cabins. We heard and saw a lot of birds right from the pool area. We also heard howler monkeys. The hotel is past the crowded part of Puerto Viejo and across from a very nice beach for body surfing. There are also surf board lessons and rentals available right on the beach. The drive from San Jose to Limon was pretty. From Limon until you get to Cahuita NP area is a bit flat and not that interesting, but once you get to this southern Caribbean area it is beautiful. I actually liked the Caribbean side of Costa Rica the best and wish we had spent more days here and perhaps explored the jungle reserve areas locally. The Jaguar rescue center is definately worth visiting to see sloths, monkeys, frogs, birds, etc up close.

Great hotel
Posted Jan 3, 2013
Pros: Great location and they rent bicycles for $6 per day.
This hotel was the most awesome hotel that I stayed at in Costa Rica. The staff was beyond helpful and nice. The hotel property was beautiful and well taken care of. The room was comfortable and very clean. The breakfast was great and the restaurant was good too. I can't imagine how someone would give this place a poor rating.

Great Stay at Cariblue!
Posted Jan 5, 2012
We stayed in a Superior Bungalow at Cariblue for 8 nights. We had a bit of trouble in our first bungalow as it was located next to the workers station and work begins noisily at 6 a.m. We asked if we could be moved to another bungalow and if it would be possible to get a refrigerator for our bungalow as we were staying longer than most. The staff was fabulous! They moved us to a new bungalow and brought in a fridge for us too! The grounds are lovely and very well kept and the staff is very helpful and accommodating. I would go back in a heartbeat!

Great value, nice facility with pleasant staff.
Posted Jan 19, 2012
Pros: Grounds and pool.
Cons: Breakfast menu
Location: Convenient location with a number (over six) good restaurants close by. Do not miss the beach and the chocolate tour.
We have visited the area many times so we know what to expect and were not disappointed. Grounds and pool were very nice. The Security was eveident and appreciated. Breakfast was average, nothing special. However the bartenders were exceptional offering suggestions for dinner and area tours and sites. The rest of the staff was fine also.Very pleasant stay and will come back in February, 2013. Our stay was in mid November, 2012. Our room had air conditioning which was appreciated as was the ceiling fan. The T.V. sky cable network worked fine for those who are interested in keeping up with the outside world news, sports and movies. However time is much better spent outside. The grounds crew was busy keeping the facility looking beautiful with flora and plans; Some areas of the hotel do need renewal, however the entire hotel is well worth the value provided and is definitely recommend. Overall rating is 4 and probably desers a 5 compared to most of the other hotels in the area.

Great hotel for anyone
Posted Jan 14, 2012
Pros: Open pool area
Cons: Shower pressure
Great character to this hotel, staff is very helpful and friendly. The rooms are a bit dark, and the water pressure in the shower is low. Pool is great, and I really like the layout of the hotel.
