“Amazing tropical retreat at a boutique hotel”

This boutique hotel was more than anticipated! The photos and reviews don't do it justice. The hotel was very well kept and the decor was clean and modern - a cool juxtaposition to the jungle spot it was nestled in. There was a perfect mix of the nature and all the niceties of home - screens on the doors and windows, etc. There were the anticipated insects, lizards, frogs and birds, which felt completely natural in the setting. The hotel is small and even with other guests it felt very private and romantic. The beach is right across the street and amazing. There is a little section that feels very secluded that is set apart from the road by vegetation, a sitting area, and a lounge area with beds with curtains. We couldn't believe how few people there were on the beach at the hotel and nearby. The hotel employees were mostly very helpful and accommodating with a few who stood out and took care of us for the whole trip. Outside of those individuals the customer service was inconsistent at times, but never bad. There were partnerships with tour agencies to explore the area. It was convenient but I would recommend finding a place in the town to set up tours instead. Food was pretty good at the hotel and the staff was very helpful recommending places in the town about 3 miles away. Drinks were good, but mild. Over all it was an amazing trip and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic and adventurous trip in a beautiful location.

“Must see to believe”

After a terrible experience traveling from San Jose to the coast, we were thanking God that we actually reached the hotel in one piece. The hotel is truly amazing. It is even more beautiful in person than in the pictures. Very modern, very sophisticated, I am sure this must be the nicest hotel in Puerto Viejo. About 5 km from the town, so have a car or rent a bike because the walk would be quite far. The front desk staff was very knowledgeable and very helpful. Not sure if I will return to Costa Rica, but if I did I would only stay here.

“Wonderful, exotic etreat”

Le Cameleon was everything we had hoped for and more. Wonderful, luxurious boutique hotel surrounded by jungle, adjacent to private beach. Not only was the comfort of the room outstanding, we were surprised to sse the room decor change color each day. Delightful surprise. The staff was exceptional and friendly and helpful in every way. And we are still raving about Chef Marco's food - we loved the complimentary deluxe breakfast each morning but often came back to the hotel for lunch at the Beach Club and dinner at night under the stars. Very nice all around and we would definitely recommend to friends and family.

“great place in a laid back part of the country”

we loved staying at le cameleon, it was beautiful and met some nice fellow guests. breakfast could have included a few more food items without an upcharge, but the coffee was great, peaceful atmosphere, with light chill music wafting in the air, dinner was pretty good, took cabs into town and local bus to visit manzanilla, nearby. the beach, hammocks, and outdoor lounging beds were comfortable in an amazing location.

“Best Hotel I've stayed at”

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed at. all the staff were extremenly helpful and nothing was too much for them. The hotel setting was brilliant and fitted well with the astheticas and the enviroment. The rooms were a good size and the bathroon fantastic. I loved that the hotel was all white and they used different colours for the furtniture everyday. The pool, bar and restaurant area were very chic. A briiliant boutique hotel all in all and well worth a stay if you are looking for a bit of luxury. Bonus is that it has its private beach as well will great beach beds.

“Loved it, didn't want to leave it!”

We were very happy with our staff and our stay at Le Cameleon. Not to mention the private beach is amazing! We encounted a small problem when the maintenance staff were painting the room next door and our room smelled like paint. I suffer from frequent migraines, commonly induced by strong smells, so we asked if they could move us and they obliged by putting us in an upgraded room for the rest of our stay with no additional charge. Very happy with our experience!

“Stay here for a great week in Puerto Viejo.”

Just a wonderful experience. Room is well stated and the amenities (Good AC, Minibar, Spa, etc...) blow away anything else on the Caribbean coast. The staff rocks and always helped where needed. The free breakfast is awesome and the restaurant is about the best in town. The beach bar is also really nice (maybe the only place on the beach you can safely take electronics.) It's also in Cocles so you're close enough to Puerto Viejo to enjoy it but not close enough to deal with some of its nuisances. Granted, this hotel is expensive for the area and the all-white decorum is starting to wear a little. That said, I'd easily stay here again. It's just on a different level than everything else in the area. Oh yeah, and I saw a sloth in a tree from my hammock.

“Oasis in the jungle.”

The hotel is across the street from a great beach. The setting is very relaxing. Saw a sloth carrying its baby up a tree while sitting on my verandah. Saw a toucan in the tree while I was in the pool.
