broken bed only let down

I requested a hillside room, its not granted.. Avoid room 411 its very noisy. I expect a climate control in our room but to my dissappointment there's none..... The kids enjoyed the dome.

Initially rang to confirm room, double & single bed as stated,I was bringing my niece & elderly mother,wanted room ready when arrived but hotel couldn't confirm booking,with booking number, said not valid, 5 calls later said to come down room would be ready. Arrived hotel at 18:00 told room only had double bed available but could check in get single bed up as soon as could,couldn't straight away as they were busy.Explained had rang numerous times to have this ready on arrival.Checked in,unpacked & went get food in the restaurant,arrived back room before 20:00 still no single bed in the room.Rang reception,told they were busy.I explained I had a child wanted to go to bed & I had had paid for 2 nights in a four star hotel & it was ridiculous at this stage. Finally 20:30 I had to move rooms & I got what I booked & paid for. At which stage I was angry & frustrated,night was ruined. Only for my mother & niece I wouldn't have stayed in the hotel,whole experience really upset me. While the room we eventually got was lovely & the food & catering staff were excellent. The initial experience of having been told booking number not valid, numerous calls to know if room was available, or if I would be going away for the weekend, to then arriving at hotel & incorrect room given, the lackadaisical attitude of the reception staff, very upsetting & overshadowed the whole weekend. I had to argue so much on the first night I would think twice before visiting again which really is a pity.

Would probably stay again

We have stayed here twice and would probably stay again, but the hotel needs upgrading in some areas. The reception staff were friendly and very helpful. Staff in bistro bar were excellent, as was the food.The hotel is starting to look a bit scruffy on the outside. Some outside lights not working, which makes the steps a bit tricky in the dark. The restaurant is too small for the crowds at breakfast. Poor lighting in bedroom and bathroom. TV old and small screen with poor choice of channels. Bathroom plumbing tired -- bath tap loose in wall. Bed was old and sagging in the middle. Wi-fi worked well. Breakfast menu was excellent. With some attention and refurbishment it could really be a 4-star again.
