Visit to Caverns

Posted May 16, 2015
Pros: Convenient to the National Park. The free breakfast was sufficient but not outstanding like some other hotels. Parking was easy.
Cons: Open the pool when the weather is hot and sunny. Improve parking lot and rooms. They are a little worn and need some serious updating.
Location: Close to Carlsbad Cavern National Park. Within driving distance of a few good restaurants and chain fast food places.
The hotel was OK, nothing special. Was pretty worn and could use some major updating of the rooms. The breakfast was OK nothing special either. The best was the location close to the National Park, easy to get to from this hotel. The hotel was as expected for the price.

Adequate room

Posted Apr 6, 2015
First room we were in the toilet would not flush. Office staff immediately moved us to another room. Only complaint was the shower head was way too short for average to tall people.

Very expensive for the quality of the hotel. We had to pay $150 for a very basic room.

Convenient to the Caverns

Posted Mar 14, 2015
This hotel is on the side of town that is closest to the Carlsbad Caverns and the Guadalupe Mt. National park. I found the hotel staff very friendly. The rooms are in okay shape and were pretty comfortable. If you want more than one pillow per person, you should bring your own as there were only two on the bed. Some rooms are better than others and I would ask for a room near the back stairs since the ones near the front are noisier because of ice machines, breakfast room, and washing machines.

Stay on February 24, 2015

Posted Mar 2, 2015
Pros: Room was very clean but dated. Staff were very professional and courteous.
Cons: Compared to anywhere I have stayed breakfast was lacking.
Way over priced for the room, I suppose it is because of the caverns. Their breakfast was lacking the day I was there. Some coffee and cereal but nothing hot.

What we needed, a base of operations for climbing

Posted Feb 20, 2015
Pros: Proximity to Guadalupe Mountains if not camping. Fair rates.
Cons: Whatever one does with an older hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful
Location: We were there to climb the Guadalupe Mountains. Carlsbad Caverns is about 20+ miles away. Not much to do except for those two things.
We knew going in this was not going to be Embassy Suites. We were pleased with the overall hotel, having read some bad reviews we know how picky some people can be. At one point we had "trouble" with our WiFi and management came right away, only to show us it was operator error on our tablet. Yes the majority of people here are oil/gas field workers, but they were all nice and gone early in the morning. We were using the hotel as a base for climbing the Guadalupe Mountains. The room was pretty clean, maids gave us extra towels, continental breakfast in the break room was to be expected, basic, if you don't want to go to a restaurant. Above all we thought their rates were very reasonable given the extreme price gouging 95% of the other hotels are guilty of. One thing...this hotel is 3 stories with no elevator. We requested and got a first story room. We would definitely stay there again.

Christmas at the caverns

Posted Jan 1, 2015 on Hotels.com
For the price it was a good choice for us. Just a quick trip to see the caverns and needed a place for the night. Beds were very comfy, room was clean and dominoes pizza delivers. Breakfast was nothing to write home about but got the job done. On the south end of town so pretty convenient for the caverns.
