Pros: Nothing
Cons: Remodel and update.
Location: Poor location
Staff to young, don't know how greet people. Couple in front of me were given a room twice that was not made up or cleaned . Same thing happened to me , had to go back and get another room. Room was very smelly. It smelled like sewage.

Econolodge bad service

Pros: Only the breakfast.
Cons: the hotel himself.
Location: the town is so beautiful and we will like to go back, but not to this hotel for sure.
The hotel itself looks a motel for sex workers, there were people drinking alcohol in the parking lot, the environment is not suitable for carrying family, had trash everywhere, the hotel maintain this is very little if not zero, the pool seemed rather a place where people relieve themselves drunk, the hotel is okay to bring prostitutes to spend the night, but not to take a family vacations.

Look around a lot before you choose this place.

The motel seemed to be near capacity, with a lot of guests who seemed to want to party loudly outside at night and rev up their motorcycles in the wee hours of the morning. The chairs and table in the room were rickety. One chair had an iron burn mark on it. There were a battery and a sock under the bed. The bed jiggled whenever someone turned over. One of the drawers in the bureau had been installed crookedly. There were brown drips on the bathroom wall. The shower head could not be adjusted and the water pressure was WAY too much (esp. surprising in such an arid climate). The TV screen was grainy. The decor was unappealing. There were two prints of the same picture on the wall. There was no water in the pool. On the plus side, the breakfast was okay, and the second night of our stay was quieter than the first. While we were out, room service came in and replaced our towels. There was plenty of hot water. The cost was not high, though we've stayed at much nicer places for about the same amount. With so much competition in Carlsbad, you'd think there would be some incentive to keep up the place, but apparently they can get all the customers they need staying as they are. There were people staying there who apparently were there long term and worked for an oil company.

Old ans smelly

inaccurate information at the time of reservation. I was told the hotel had a pool but at arrival the pool was closed. The service was not as expected, phone did not work. We needed bathroom supplies and nobody was able to bring it to the room. We had to walk to the Front Desk to get what we needed. The building was old and smelled. Not planning to go back.

Good location and not much else

This hotel is close to the south side of town, so getting to the caverns is convenient. The hotel itself was dirty, worn down, and not very comfortable. Our bathroom had a hole in the ceiling that a black powdery substance came out of and covered the towels. The baseboards in the room had come unglued and were simply laying on the floor, which looked like it had not been vacuumed in a month. The bed was fairly comfortable, but the tv remote was missing. Breakfast was all things bread........waffles, bagels, Danish, and toast.

Very basic, old and expensive for what's provided

Not very impressed. Condition of the hotel (except for the lobby area) appeared in definite need of services. Cleanliness not so good, there was a smear of blue toothpaste on backside of bathroom door, and even though a non-smoking room, it smelled stale, as if it was retaining odor from a time when it may have been allowed to smoke in the room. The breakfast provided was cheap pastries, bread, cereal and waffles... no fruit or yogurt. Coffee tasted cheap and weak. TVs were mounted on the walls, and the room next door must have had the TV mounted on the same wall as the bed headboard was placed, because lying in bed, the tv sound came through clearly, even though the guests voices were slightly muffled. Wifi was available, but the signal was very weak, except in the lobby.
