Carmel ValleyPosted Sep 19, 2013
Cons: update the bed spreads and some furnishings
Location: See above
Wonderful location, close to some very good restaurants, Kathy's Grill, Toast, Will's Fargo, Rustica and plenty of great wine tasting places. The motel has a nice size pool, a lovely library room and we stayed in a 2 bedroom cottage that had a kitchen and two nice size bedrooms. The bath room was good size and the whole cottage was very clean but still looked like it was built in the 50's. The staff was very knowledgeable and great to work with.

Very nice people, the place is a bit dated but has its own charm

located close to town centerPosted Aug 27, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel is very out-dated - it had the felling of going to Catskill, NY for family vacation in the 50s. I was told that it was family owned for sixty years and I am sure that not many changes have been made during that time. It's hard to say what needs to be done - it was fine for us people who still remember 60s but our children were a little bit disappointed that kitchen and other amenities were not updated. Rooms were clean, cleaning service was friendly and responsive however everything looked rugged, old and lacked any charm. Too bad because the place is located in beautiful part of Carmel Valley. On the other hand if it exists for 60 years people must find it attractive and I wish the owner(s) good luck with this place for the next 60 years.

Tucked away in a delightful valleyPosted Aug 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
My sister and I stayed here by chance enroute down the Californian coast. We were initially trying to stay closer to the ocean, but left our booking to late and hence ended up exploring Carmel Valley, and what a delightful surprise it was! The Lodge provided a very comfortable stay and the quaint little town is filled with wonderful restaurants, wineries and more. We had a wonderful time here and will be back for a longer stay to explore the area more thoroughly sometime soon.

Good choice!Posted Aug 12, 2013 on Hotels.com
Carmel Valley is a great contrast to Carmel by the Sea. I enjoyed visiting both, but was very glad to stay at Blue Sky Lodge for its vintage, rustic charm. Very old school hotel/motel, but has a nice pool and hot tub. Very friendly family has been running it for multiple generations, and they have the true California charm. Rooms also have a private sitting area with privacy fences. Surrounding restaurants, Toast and Rustica, we're also good.

old lodge in beautiful locationPosted Jul 17, 2013 on Hotels.com
The location was wonderful in beautiful Carmel Valley, near a fabulous restaurant, wineries, and within a half hour's drive to the beach. Dog friendly. Small balcony with seating to enjoy the view and very nice pool. Clean.King size bed comfortable. TV has cable channels and free wifi available. Significant lack of electrical outlets...none in bathroom for hair dryer or shaver..only one in room for charging cell phone or Ipad...shared with floor lamp and small coffee maker. Coffee packet supplied each day; nice big towels. All rooms are on ground level, tho.l

Worth the drivePosted Jul 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel was very pleasant and the room was spacious. I loved having a large private deck for relaxing. The staff was pleasant. The only downfall was the distance between it and Monterey. In miles it doesn't seem that far but with traffic a 12 mile drive easily turned into a 45 min drive. Otherwise it was a very nice trip.
