Very disappointingPosted Jul 17, 2015
Pros: Fantastic staff.
Cons: Food and decor
Location: Quiet area but easy access to Edinburgh, St Andrews, Dundee via train.
Was looking forward to staying in Carnoustie, however the hotel was disappointing. It is in need of a total makeover, decor is dated and shabby. The food was awful, The only positive was the fact that the staff were so good. All seemed to be local and were charming, polite and willing to please despite the number of negative comments and complaints they were recieving. We were told that the hotel will under go renovation later this year. A new chef would also work wonders!!

Comfortable StayPosted Jul 15, 2015
Pros: relaxed and comfortable feel to it
Cons: 1 more sausage on the breakfast as they were very good.
Great welcome from Claire & the hotel had a good feel about it and very golf focused which was just what was wanted. The course appeared manicured (and looked better than St Andrews) and it was a pleasure to see it - next time a game of golf is on the agenda! Rooms were comfortable and food was good - an enjoyable stop.

Trotzdem sauber. Übersichtliche Speisenkarte, alles gute Qualität.

Carnoustie Golf HotelPosted Jul 4, 2015
Pros: Hotel room overlooked the carpark. Would have been good to have overlooked the golf course as that is why we choose to stay there!
Cons: Just needs generally updating - looks a bit tired.
Location: Location is good if you like golf.
The room was clean and it was good to have two double beds. The curtains were a bit frayed and cabinets in the bathroom had seen better days. Could do with a fan in the room as it was a bit hot and only option was to open the window. The telly was also on the small side, much smaller than those in the premier Inn.. The Spa was ok, but again a bit dated with tiles missing from around the jacuzzi. Breakfast was ok with fruit and cereals buffet style but everything else had to be ordered. This led to quite a delay at busy times and it wasn't obvious that you could only have one cooked option. Complete buffet style would be preferable.

Good staff, faded hotelPosted Jul 3, 2015
All of the staff were first class. The hotel is needing a revamp in the common areas and rooms as it looks like not a lot has been spent since opening day....that said everything worked....but prints/artwork everywhere is faded, timber could do with a varnish and evidence of leaks in the dining area/lounge have not been tackled comprehensively. That said for the price we paid it was acceptable and it was clean....the staff were good and the food was decent and priced ok.....so bizarrely we would go back.

Not good enoughPosted Jun 28, 2015
the hotel needs a renovation and better service to be at the level of the course and the expectations around an open championship host course

Family friendly, but quiet hotelPosted Jun 27, 2015
Our room had a pleasant sea view overlooking the putting green (if that's what you call it). Ice machine located near the lift and ice bucket supplied in the room - very nice touch and welcome after a warm day out side. Staff very polite and friendly, always smiling.
