Cons: Condition of bathroom
Location: Good location but you have to park on the road outside hotel.
We knew what to expect and the room and services were adequate. We got what we paid for.

Fine :-)Posted Nov 27, 2012
Only there for one night to get the head down, so it was absolutely fine. We had dinner in the bar too which was fine. Only real problem was the noise the next morning from the girls cleaning the rooms. The doors in the corridors bang loudly!! Very old place but would say its quirky and the room served its purpose for a comfortable nights sleep.

Cons: paint smell in tyhe room.
Location: on the main street with no parking, apart from on street paking.
this first room we were given, it smelt strongly of paint, as if if had been done the day before. when we talked to one of the staff there said, another couple had already complained about the smell, and had been moved. when we complained about thie smell, we were given the room opposite, why were we not given this room to start with i dont know. the staff were ok. breakfast was very good. but we had to be out of the hotel by 09.00 as there was no parking at the hotel, only on street parking, and we were told the traffic warden would be about early in the morning. jim17369

Wonderful Northern Irish Experience/CarrickfergusPosted Mar 15, 2012
Pros: The staff and the food
Cons: Water pressure
Location: Centrally located 50 yards from Carrickfergus Castle
I have been in quite a few places around the world and have never felt more welcome or at home than at the Dobbins Inn Hotel. The staff were very warm, caring and friendly. The food at the pub/restaurant was excellent and very reasonably priced and there is such a wonderful history of the Inn and what transpired there throughout the years. The room was a bit small, but plenty of room for one person and it was very comfortable and clean. The only real downside was the water pressure, but that's to be expected in a building that dates back to 1567. Of course, it's sort of like that all over Ireland. I would definitely recommend the Dobbins Inn Hotel to all of my friends, and the cost of staying there is incredibly reasonable. Included in the cost of your room is a wonderful breakfast of Porridge and/or an Ulster Fry which consists of eggs, fresh sausage, bacon, grilled tomatoes, grilled mushrooms, grilles potato bread and grilled soda bread as well as a choice of cereal and juices, coffee and tea. You can enjoy a filling breakfast that will hold you throughout the day on your travels. And in the evening the menu is very diverse and portions generous and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Very friendly staff. Let us use their computer to check our flight status. Room had a big bath tub. Nice bar with good food. Conveniently located.
