“Not Impressed”
The Horizon is an old hotel and we expected that rooms would show their age. It was the little things we first noticed: a filthy elevator in the parking garage, two burned out bulbs bathroom, and the lingering cigarette smell everywhere. The killer was the room temperature. The air conditioning did not work and our room was in the high 80's, even with snow on the ground outside. Windows would only open a crack so we spent a sleepless night wishing we'd stayed anywhere else. At a very bad hotel management, our professionals and gaudy WITH CLIENTS
“Not Bad”
Overall the hotel is nice and in a good location. My only real complaint was that the rooms were way too hot at night. We received a notice when we checked in that since it was almost winter, that the heat was on and there would be no air conditioning. It was suggested if your room was too hot, just simply turn off the heat on the control panel in the room. Even with that turned off, if was way too hot. Temps were OK during the day. The heat issue seemed to be a night time one. I travel for a living and this is the first time I've ever had a room that was too hot to sleep. Other than that, the hotel was clean and the service was good.
“Not impressed”
Their service was awful the only nice people we saw were at the bars and valet everyone else from check in to check out were extremely rude and not helpful at all. Got stuck with a room right by the elevator shift so was up all night. Bed was as hard as a rock same with pillows. Thank goodness we only stayed one night I will not be back!!
“Room was unbearably hot”
The Horizon is an old hotel and we expected that rooms would show their age. Our first impression was better than expected. Things were clean and carpets didn't show stains. It was the little things we first noticed: a filthy elevator in the parking garage, two burned out bulbs bathroom, and the lingering cigarette smell everywhere. The killer was the room temperature. The air conditioning did not work and our room was in the high 80's, even with snow on the ground outside. Bad....
“We had a beautiful view of the lake from our room window! The hotel needs a total remodel.”
The elevator is shabby! The beds in the room are old! The window curtain had a big hole, needs to be replaced. The room had a beautiful view of the lake and was extra large with appointments ie: table & chairs and vanity. Really needs to be updated (has the bones!) Hotel appears to be barely holding on.
“Mixed Review”
A good value for the money. The other major hotels in the area are much nicer but outrageously priced. Horizon's prices are comparable to many of the motels which makes it a good value for the price and the location is great. The pool area is very nice. Plenty of parking and very convenient. Easy to check in and out. The hotel badly needs updating. The carpet in the room either needs a good cleaning or to be replaced. The soundproofing between the rooms is not good. If you are fortunate to have quiet neighbors, it is not an issue. That was not the case for this particular stay. Unfortunately I could also smell cigaratte (or something else) smoke comng from the next "non smoking" room. Overall I will most likely stay again as long as I can get a good rate.
“Good value”
Good value for the money...nice rooms and a fun casino.
“Not for me”
Reminded me of a cheap motel of the 70's. No desk and table top was wobbly. Lots of noise from people out in the hall ways usually about 2:30 am. Swimming pool area was nice but water cold. Lake Tahoe even in summer is cool and to have a pool that is not heated its cold. Will not be staying there again.
“Great Convenient Stay.”
Overall, the stay was perfect! Close to the main casinos, shows, restaurants. Thank you!
