Nice and centrally situated within the walled city

Posted Apr 17, 2015
Pros: location, view from rooms with a balcony
Cons: Lobby could be more pleasant if not used by Real Estate promoters
Location: Walled city of Cartagena is worth the trip
We had a wonderful time, Staff was very attentive and gave us the best advice about beach and dinning activities possible.

Best price/quality within Cartagena´s walled city

Posted Apr 17, 2015
Pros: Service and best advice on places to visit.
Cons: It looses flair by using the lobby to advertise Real Estate developments......
Location: Just around the corner of Plaza Santo Domingo, with many eateries and shops on walking distance
Very central, very clean, very helpful staff. Rooms in the higher levels have outstanding views. The walled city area is very quiete at night and lively during the day. Best choice of many different restaurants on walking distance.

Hotel agradável dentro da muralha

Posted Mar 27, 2015

Central but quirky

Posted Jan 30, 2015 on Hotels.com
We chose the hotel for its central position in the old city which was excellent. The room was a reasonable size but with a peculiar bathroom layout. Shower and loo in a room with window overlooking the bed! The basin was in the bedroom. Staff were pleasant and helpful. There appeared to be an office running in the downstairs lounge which we had to walk through to get to the front door. We were fine, but considering the gems of hotels available in the town for a similar price to that we paid I would choose another hotel should I return.

Cartagena - a stay in the old city.

Posted Jan 29, 2015 on Hotels.com
This hotel is in the center of old Cartagena city, and if this is where you want to stay, it will suit you fine. However, it was not a lot cheaper to stay here compared to staying in other more upmarket hotels in the old city. The room, predictably, was small as it is in old renovated building. The booking read as if it had a balcony, but it was just a shared walkway outside the room. The staff were helpful, although it was a bit strange walking through a business center at the front to get to the hotel proper behind. For the price, the breakfast was ordinary. They were great with booking tours and generally very helpful - when my wife had a problem with an ear infection, they had a doctor there within an hour at a reasonable fee. We spent a week in Cartagena, it was delightful and interesting and the hotel was a pleasant environment - quiet, good air conditioning, good accessibility, good position, but cramped. If you are looking to laze around the pool, this is not the place for you - there are plenty of nicer resort type hotels around outside the old city that are only a very cheap cab ride away; however for a the real feeling of old Cartagena it was a plus being in the city center and part of the old colonial atmosphere. It was an advantage of an evening when the sun went down, as you could stroll to some good local bars and eateries, or to the supermarket, that were only a short walk away from the hotel.

Pros: Staff courtesy and location
Cons: Keep it that way
Location: All the points of interest are at walking distance, you only need to talk the tram tour to visit the beach area and the castle.
Hotel staff very nice, perfect location, good breakfast.

Excellent location, but noise was annoying

Posted Jan 13, 2015 on Hotels.com
I was here for 5 nights. Location couldn't really be any better (and you pay for that accordingly as it was pretty expensive). However, the room I was in had problems: - to get any wifi, I had to sit in a corner by the door (it seems I was in some kind of wifi blindspot) - 3/5 mornings I was woken up by loads of banging above my ceiling. It felt like there was a herd of elephants up there. My best guess is that above my room was some kind of cleaners storage cupboard, so when they started in the morning I got woken up. I wouldn't stay here again
