“One of the Best Small Hotels I Have Stayed In”
I decided to spend my birthday this year in Cartagena. I wanted a small hotel to share with my girlfriend, who I had not seen in three months. I choose wisely.
The hotel only has eight rooms. But the layout gives guests space. Whoever designed the hotel did a masterful job. The hotel is three levels with an small indoor pool on the first floor. There is a television room, a library and a courtyard on the second floor. Our room, the only one on the third floor, was as spacious as a room at any five star resort hotels. The bathroom was awesome with a shower open on one side to a skylighted roof above to the first floor pool below. A family, who had several children in their party was also staying there and must have occupied four or five of the rooms. You could hear the children playing in the pool. What a delight.
The room and bathroom were bathed in as much natural light as one would want, giving the impression of staying in a private room at a Spanish villa. The third floor also hosted a roof top jacuzzi and sun deck. To my surprise the hotel staff - who are wonderful, courteous and accomodating - had a chocolate cake in my room, along with a birthday note, when we returned from dinner. How cool was that. So with my customary bottle of champaigne (which they had chilled), chocolate cake and amor in the air we passed the night undisturbed on the roof top being serenaded by warm Colombian breezes.
You gotta love it!!!
