“Impressed, but may not be worth the high cost”

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay on Rosario. The island was beautiful, our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. That said, I'm not sure whether I will return. The food and drinks were excellent, but very pricey. We enjoyed our trip, but it seemed expensive for what it was.

“A Robinson Crusoe Experience”

The hotel is situated on Rosario Island and reached by a luxury speedboat accommodating about 24 passengers from Cartagena. Hotel rooms are beautifully presented although essentially separate brick buldings with thatched roofs. Facilities within, including A/C are as normal for a 4 star hotel. The hotel has only one restaurant so the free breakfast plus lunch and dinner are taken there. Food and service were excellent and all staff were found to be extremely friendly and helpful. The two beach areas are well set out with sunbeds and thatched umbrellas. Towels and drinks (all charged) are available at both. Swimming is excellent although care is necessary entering the water due to some broken coral, this is not a problem. Snorkelling, scuba diving canoeing and various tours are available through the hotel for a fee. Don't go if you need entertained beyond what has been described. Beaches are extremely quiet particularly when the day visitors (they arrive at 11am and depart at 4pm) have left. Mosquitos on the leeward side of the island (away from the hotel) can be a problem. Also, bead sellers etc can be a nuisance at first although if you decline their "promocions" they tend to avoid you thereafter. Most members of staff have a little English. All staff were found to be extremely friendly and helpful. A great retreat. Recommended stay is 2-3 days unless you really want to get away from it all!! Room Tip: Take a little food and water with you

“Close to paradise”

Charming hotel. Unfortunately, it is way over-priced for what you get. Its restaurant is also quite expensive. The most unfortunate aspect of this hotel is its abrasive front-desk staff. The beaches surrounding the hotel are nice but one can find more beautiful beaches if you engage a small boat that will take you to a deserted island and perhaps even bring you food (lobsters and coconut rice).
