Pros: Everything!
Cons: Coffee in the hotel room would have added a great touch to a wonderful stay.
Location: Just a short taxi ride to the Old Town Cartagena.
What a lovely time, from morning buffet, especially arepa de huevo, to piƱa coladas at the pool bar, to floating in the mar caribe, to brochettes de carne y mariscos for lunch, siesta in the air conditioned room in bloque 2, sight seeing in the old city, dinner at La plaza de Santo Pedro Claver and returning to the comfort of an enormous king-sized bed, and doing the same next day! Bravo to el hotel de las Americas!

Great staff and pools

Posted Jul 26, 2014 on Hotels.com
The highlight of this hotel is the staff: without fail, they were helpful, friendly and always had a smile on their face. Everyone went our of their way to be helpful. Breakfast buffets were great: lots of delicious fresh fruit, local goodies, omelets to order, etc. Lastly, the pools were fantastic, ranging from one with a great water slide to an "adults only" pool on the tenth floor of the tower. The multilevel pool in front of the Tower was great. If you have kids with you, they will love the playground, minigolf and water slide. The hotel is about 10 min from the old city which is great. Overall, a great place to stay and we would love to come back!

Taxi drive to old city but relaxing tropical feel

Posted Jul 26, 2014 on Hotels.com
We loved the place. Please note this is not high season in COlombia so the hotel was not full. June and Dec may be very different. What was great was the service, pools and tropical feel. The beach is also good but we preferred the many pools. We had no one bothering trying to sell anything as they do in other beaches. The hotels is a 5-6 dollar drive from the old city. They charge set rates and it is a little more at night- standard in Cartagena. When we had more than 5 people we were also able to get van from the doorman. Breakfast buffet was great and had food for all tastes and diets.Rooms are spacious, safe easy to use and nice balcony with hammock. Food was good, we tried 2-3 of the restaurants. We loved the one specializing in meat by Block 7. Servings were generous and can split them for lunch for sure, we did. Drinks are more expensive and we purchased water in large jugs out of the hotel. One taxi driver took us to a supermarket. It was hot and used a lot of water Sunset in the old city was memorable.Loved our stay and would go back to Las Americas casas de Playa for sure.

Great service and food

We had a large group staying at this hotel. Rooms were large and with plenty of space. The staff was very helpful at all times. Many pools to select from and all great, some for kids some for adults, some with bars some with play area. No problems with the beach. They removed the beach cabanas to reduce the problem with locals trying to sell things. We were never accosted but still had the hotel appointed fruit sellers, massages and braiding for some fun.Taxis to the old city were handy and vans for larger groups can be obtained by asking the doorman. The things to do is to go at sunset to the old city for food and exploration. The city comes alive at night. Can not say enough about how friendly the staff was. The service, feeling of being in a tropical hotel and the space made this a memorable stay.

Everyone at this hotel helps you with a smile. Many pools and facilities for all tastes. Breakfast buffet excellent and other restaurants had great food at fair prices. Drinks were expensive but very high quality. We were in a large group and some rooms were renovated others not but ours that was not was still good. Rooms are very spacious. Private balcony with hammock. The old city is a short taxi drive away. Nice to relax at the hotel and go there for sunset. Overall a memorable stay by all standards.
