Enchanting Hotel, Great Experience

Posted Feb 17, 2015
Pros: We liked almost everything - the public areas, our room, the pool, the location and the helpful staff.
Cons: The food is not great, mediocre for a 5 star hotel. It's fine for breakfast and poolside lunch, and there are several very good dinner spots nearby.
Location: Superb location. Bustling nightlife in the square in front. Walk throughout the walled old town or hire a horse drawn carriage. Fun & romantic!
From the moment one walks in the front entry, he is struck by the quiet, enchanting eloquent charm of Santa Clara - a true 5 star hotel.

History, luxury and memorability.

Posted Dec 19, 2014 on Hotels.com
This hotel is not just absolutely gorgeous but also has the highest standards of customer service. The location is right in the most beautiful area de Cartagena and closer to the best restaurants in town (not that you need to go anywhere because the hotel encloses some of the best at an international level). I have been blessed to visit about 30 different countries staying in hotels and apartments that range from 3.5 to 5 stars and this is probably the most beautiful and memorable so far.

Beautiful Hotel

Posted Dec 6, 2014
Pros: Rooms, Pool, Restaurants, History, Jungle Courtyard, Location, Staff
Location: Get lost in the the old town. Cafe Del Mar a must place for sunset and really a good vibe for anyone. La Cevicheria for Ceviche.
This was the place to stay in Cartagena. Nice rooms, jungle courtyard and nice pool to relax in and get away from the heat and humidity of the town. This history of the building is well preserved and honored and is part of the experience of staying there. The location is great in the old town where you can walk all over and enjoy getting lost. That is what one must do in Cartagena as there are so many winding narrow streets with places to hang, people to meet and things to see. The hotel restaurants are great and a favorite town restaurant La Cevicheria is right across the street. Staff at the hotel are very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend travel to Cartagena and the Sofitel.

Good place with some improvements needed

Posted Nov 4, 2014 on Hotels.com
A high quality hotel but needs to make improvements in the following areas: 1. Food & Service: the dinner was very average, a bit over cooked on a border of tasteless. perhaps we didn't choose the best dish, but it shouldn't be an average in a higher quality hotel. Service was extremely slow and surprisingly unskilled in tending to the table. Breakfast was really good. 2. Buttlers were very persistent in the first few hours of our stay. They were trying to be so helpful to a degree where we wanted to hide from them.

Nice Property Horrible Service

Posted Oct 9, 2014 on Hotels.com
Nice hotel property, but in terms of service, it's lacking. It might have something to do with the fact that I was the only dark skinned person staying there. But I practically had to beg the front desk for assistance. St. Clara may be the luxury hotel in the town, but it's not luxury service. Even the doormen at the front of the hotel wouldn't say hello back. I wish there was a Four Seasons there instead.

A luxury experience

Posted Oct 2, 2014
Pros: The Hotel, is one of the best in the wallled City, there are a lot of Boutiques, but this is overall much better
Cons: The food at the Hotel was disappointing, very expensive and not so good quality.
We was invited to a party in Cartagena, and we chose to stay at this Hotel, because that was like a dream for me. The dream came true at a price. It is really a luxury experience.
