My wife and I carefully selected the Charleston because we wanted roof-top views of the sea, the wall and the skyline of the old City, while enjoying the atmosphere of a Colombian hotel in total comfort. We were delighted with the beautiful décor, tasty local cuisine, and charming character of the hotel. The location is superb for exploring the old city on foot.

When you decide to make Cartagena your vacation destination, this would be one of the best places to stay. I would never consider to stay at any other hotel outside the walled city. Inside the wall you will find anything you need and if the beach is your thing, you will have to visit Playa Blanca since the beaches near the high rise hotels are not that appealing anyway. There are great restaurants, bars, clubs and museums within the historical city. You can always use the double decker bus for a round trip and sightseeing. Within the wall you feel safe day and night, I cannot say that for other locations. Great places to eat, my favorites: San Pedro Restaurante, El Pulpito, different restaurants on Plaza San Felipe and Pizza Pasta for great local cuisine (don't let the name fool you). Drinks on the plaza by El Reloj is just memorable. Otherwise this hotel offers a great breakfast every morning and the rooftop pool is perfect for a dip after stroling through the hot streets.

From the moment I arrived to the moment I left the airport, Ananda was the perfect spot for my short vacation. The hotel is small yet private, service was impeccable and discreet, food absolutely amazing. Totally recommend Ananda Hotel.

Super helpful and friendly staff. Very well located in historic centre making it the perfect base to explore from. Generously allowed us an early check in and late check out which was hugely appreciated.

Wonderful hotel, exceptionally accommodating. I don't believe the word no is in their vocabulary. Great secluded hotel in the old city, yet easy to walk around and explore the hidden Jewel that Cartagena is. If you have never been here, you are missing an opportunity to step back in time. The airport, which used to be a real pain to get in and out of, has been remodeled and has become infinitely more efficient. Cab rides are safe and very inexpensive. You can get about anywhere in Cartagena for 10 pesos or less.

Step within the old city walls to explore the rich history of Cartagena, whose potent mix of cultures inspired the Nobel-Prize winning writer Gabriel García Márquez. During the colonial period Cartagena Bay was the embarkation point for ships carrying gold back to Spain, which made it a ripe target for pirates, leading to the construction of the fortifications still visible in the district.
