B&B "A casa mia" Rooms and Apartments

Sestiere Castello, 1985, Venice - Map
"Pleasant good value B&B"
This B&B is located in Castello, away from the crowds and a pleasant stroll home each night. It is clean, bright and comfortable. They provided excellent instructions and map for finding it, and provided me with a helpful city map upon arrival (although I still got lost a million times, it's par for the course). I shared a bathroom with another room, but I never saw them and it was no trouble. Good value. Highly recommended. I had a room without breakfast, which worked well for me because it is close to a main street and it was easy to go grab (delicious) coffee, fruit and brioche. They are not allowed(?) to provide fresh fruits etc with their set breakfasts, so I don't think it's a big loss not to have breakfast included.

Casa Fontana

Campo San Provolo - Castello 4701, Venice - Map
"At home in Venice"
I spent a week at the Casa Fontana and was sad to leave. The best thing about the place is the location - just a couple hundred yards from Piazza San Marco on one side and the San Zaccaria vaporetto stops on the other, yet in the more serene Castello neighborhood, which is mostly free from the tourist mobs and has a real Venetian feel. There's a great little bar (Becaro Risorto) right next door and an excellent coffee shop across the street, both of which I made sure to visit every day. The hotel is family-owned and operated and the staff could not be more friendly. My room was simple, quiet, and comfortable, with a nice view of the white facade of San Zaccaria in the morning sun. Breakfast was simple but more than adequate. Wi-fi is available only in the bar area. In many ways, I felt more like I was staying with a favorite aunt than staying at a hotel. I hope to get back to Venice soon, and if I do, I will be back at Casa Fontana.

"Super Location!"
Extremely nice owners and staff. Located very centrally. If you are looking for 5 star amenities this is not the place however if you are OK with super nice people giving you a clean room and willing to help you in any way then you are in heaven. There is the hotel then rooms cross the street (10 yards) rooms where we stayed. It might seem different because it is separate however all went well and being in Venice most places are small. (for American tourist) We had a great time! And will stay there again. Thank you Staff :)

"Best value in Venice"
We were very impressed with the hotel. To save money, we did not get a room with a lagoon view, but it did have a window that opened to an enchanting little alley. The room was very unique with wood floors and wood built-ins and charming end tables and headboard. It was so cute I had to take a picture of it. It was also extremely clean. I chose the location because the Alilaguna water bus (and the vaporetto) stop in front of the hotel. We had a lot of luggage and did not want to struggle with it. The restaurant is also rated as one of the best on Trip Advisor. The breakfast was included in the cost but we did not know so we went somewhere else the first day where we paid way too much for a capaccino and a croisant (because we sat down, if you stand like the locals it is almost half price.) We found out the next day that breakfast was included. The restaurant is one of the busiest and best on the lagoon. It is not right in San Marcos square, but close enough to walk to and far enough from the noise and traffic. It does not have a lift, but someone carried our luggage to our room so it's no big deal. I asked for a room on the second floor. This would be a 5 star hotel if it had a lift. We had a million dollar view for breakfast for free. We wanted a nice hotel for a couple of days in Venice to start out our cruise with, and we got more than we expected. It was convienient, comfortable, charming in a good taste sort of way, and affordable. I would recommend it to everyone.

Hotel Bucintoro

Castello 2135/A, Venice - Map
"What a great location and views."
Room view looking down the Grand Canal and towards Piazza St Marco, everything happening in front you, on the water and along the paved promenade. It is right by the Arsenale boat stop with the airport Aligunna boat stopping there, one hour 10 minutes straight from airport to water stop, over a bridge and 50 yards to the hotel, could not be more straightforward for Venice and you get the water views all the way in. Lots of good restaurants and friendly Trattorias in the side streets off the front less than a 10 minute walk from Hotel. Room facilities good and the view just makes it all the better morning and evening with silhouette of the buildings and moon light on the water, superb. We were not allowed to use the air conditioning, Venice law until late April but it was very warm and we wanted to shut the window at night after bitten by mossies. Also be aware at night as the vaporetto boats are moored up together and 'clunk' in the night with the boat waves. Breakfast was fine, buffet style mostly same everyday but we looked forward more to sampling the bars and eating places during the day. Great hotel to base yourself , so convenient and just on edge of main sightseeing area, just the right spot as far as we were concerned. As we walked around we recognised all number of Hotels we looked at and they were not as good a location as the Bucintoro, notwithstanding the merits of the facilities and of course price.

"Great place to stay!"
Thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing stay at Hotel Le Isole. The hotel was easy to get to from the train station via the water bus (vaparetto). We arrived early to a clean and comfortable room. Despite limited English, a staff member helped us with our bags and showed us the room amenities. Front desk staff spoke good English and were helpful with reservations for dinner and entertainment (live music). The included breakfast was also nice.

Beautiful small, boutique hotel on the lagoon, only a five-minute walk from St. Mark's. The staff was so helpful with information, mapping out directions, and making reservations for us non-Italian speakers! The continental breakfast was excellent, and served in a lovely small dining room. Our room, although small like many in Europe, was very comfortable. Highly recommend Venice off-season (we went in early December). There are so many fewer tourists, and temperatures are still in the high 40's. Beautiful early winter light in an unforgettable city!

"Beautiful hotel with great location in Venice"
This is the second time I've stayed at the Lux. Right next to the Piazza San Marco, the hotel couldn't be more perfectly located. The rooms are lovely and clean with beautiful Venetian decor. The staff are friendly and helpful. We were on the top floor for the first visit, and the third for the next--there is no lift, so all those stairs may be an issue for people with lots of heavy luggage, but not a big issue for us.

Pocket Guide: Castello, Venice Pet-friendly Hotels

Bordering San Marco and the Rialto and stretching east to some of Venice's quietest greenest parts, Castello is the city's most varied 'sestiere'. Its most famous aspect is the Riva degli Schiavoni waterfront next to the Bridge of Sighs, with picture-postcard views onto the lagoon. Yet a few yards from the tourist hoards, the backstreets are quiet and typically Venetian. There are many outstanding churches and art collections in this area.
