Disappointing.
We were very disappointed that there were no rooms with a view of the ocean. The pictures we saw online gave the impression that there were nice views but in reality the hotel only occupies the bottom floor of the building so we had a room at the back of the building which looked out onto a parking lot and a swampy area behind the building. The room was satisfactory in that it was clean and the bed was comfortable but the hotel did not have any charm whatsoever. The restaurant was very institutional looking and the buffet breakfast was 11 euro per person for what looked to be a few types of bread, boiled eggs and packaged muffins. We would not stay there again.

The good, the bad and the ugly. Good - Hotel not far from walled town area of Peniscola, Friendly (although dippy) staff member at check in, cheap, aircon/heating unit in bedroom, fridge in room with complimentary bottle of water, large car park at rear of hotel. The not so good - Paper thin walls, odd curtain set up - each room has an outdoor space and there is a plastic curtain there and no curtain in your room, would be fine if curtain actually stretched the full length and didn't flap around in the wind. We have to angle the chairs to try and hold it down. Bed not the most comfortable and you get one long pillow between two people. The ugly - noise from other guests at all hours and there was hardly anyone there as we travelled in January, so not sure what it would be like at high season and barking dogs at 3am

Peniscola is very quiet off-season. Enjoyed evening walk along sea front to the beautiful old town and the views of sunrise over the Mediterranean from the hotel restaurant. Very good value for half-board.

Hotel Felipe II
The room had a lovely balcony, however it faced the car park and driveway which was somewhat noisy. The location was good for beach access and restaurants and a good walk from the Castille. The room was comfortable but a little dark.

Well located and very clean
We have used this hotel before and find it very good. It is well located and has free secure parking. On this occasion we found the bed a little too hard for our backs - so we didn't sleep too well- BUT we will use it again. The hotel is generally very good.

Peniscola stopover
We only stayed overnight and the hotel was fairly average. Bedding could have been more comfortable, rather old fashioned with blankets and sheets!

Pleasnant surprise
We booked this hotel as a stopover on our way to Mojacar on the costa Almeria. On arrival we noticed that hotel Felipe was the only hotel open on the entire portion of the playa. I noticed from the number of room keys on the wall that the hotel was not very busy as this was January and out of season.The manageress kindly upgraded us to room 12 facing the ocean. the room was perfect, view great,aircon good and the beds comfortable. We will be driving back to the U.K. in three weeks and plan to stay here again.

Friendly hotel
Only stayed for one night en route further south in Spain. Ĺots of hotels and restaurants closed in January but Felipe ll was open and very welcoming. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room clean and comfortable. Had a lovely long walk along the promenade to the castle. Very interesting and there was a medieval market that evening. Peniscola has plenty of shops, restaurants and bars and the fishing port is worth a look too. Lovely place and will try to stay here again on way home.

OK for a stop over.
Nice hotel which was in a convenient position in town. Walking distance to the shops with a Mercadona supermarket nearby. We struggled to find a proper restaurant and one that we liked but there were plenty of bars which all seemed to serve the same fast food and snacks. We arrived at night so to be fair we did not see much of the town during the day. It seemed to be a poor town in my opinion. Not impressed.

Good, basic but comfortable
Stayed here out of Season (late November)and were happy with it: clean, basic but comfortable room and the heating worked! Great location opposite the beach, staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent! Can't fault it as a budget, one-night stopover.

not in winter!
We've stayed in Peniscola several times while travelling north and south over Spain but this was probably the last time ,if ever a place showed the ravages the Spanish economic collapse this is it, a resort with a long sandy beach ,lots of apartments and lots of hotels as near deserted as makes no difference,a hotel with only the ground floor rooms(dark, ill-kept and bleak) open and a feeling of decline and decay, fortunately we only had a one night stay , I pity those who have bought property here,maybe spring/summer will restore some shine, but I vertainly wont be there to find out!!

He estado varias veces en dicho hotel y la limpieza es muy buena, sin embargo falla la señora que atiende en el desayuno, ya que parece que te esta haciendo un favor por servirte el cafe, ademas de que se le ve que esta un poco amargada y lo paga con los clientes

Que dire? Difficile car je suis arrivée juste après la tempête Gloria et ses énormes dégâts. Je pense que cet hotel est bien en temps normal. Chambre glacée, lavabo avec des traces sales, pas de wifi et les fours froids au moment du petit déjeuner.....tempête?????

Una grata estancia, en familia. El personal más que atento. La habitación en un edificio anexo muy grande i com preciosas vistas a la playa. Pensión completa estilo bufé muy rico. En resumen seguro que repetiremos.

Las habitaciones no corresponden con las fotos. Estaban ubicadas en una planta baja hacia una entrada a un aparcamiento. La limpieza del baño era deficiente, observándose restos de cabellos en la ducha. No funcionaba la cisterna correctamente. Ruido constante desde las 7 de la mañana. El personal de limpieza a gritos en el pasillo a las 8... Las paredes no aislaban en absoluto siendo perfectamente posible escuchar las otras habitaciones. El servicio agradable y correcto.

Un rien minimaliste
L'offre hôtelière est importante à Péniscola et le Felipe II n'est certainement pas le meilleur choix. Bien situé sur le front de mer, petit déjeuner très satisfaisant mais pour le reste l'hôtel est un rien basique. Chambres au rez de chaussée avec au mieux vue sur le parking de l'hôtel et les gens de passage ont une vue plongeante sur l'intérieur de la chambre. Intimité relative donc. Equipement minimaliste. Bon pour une nuit pour un voyageur de passage.

En cuanto a nuestra experiencia personal, la única valoración negativa es que la habitación no disponía de terraza y tampoco se permitía fumar en ella, ni siquiera en el baño, lo cual fue muy frustrante para mi pareja. Por lo demás, muy satisfactorio. Excelente el trato por parte de todo el personal del hotel.

Godt til prisen
Hotel Philippe II har kun 2 * men har både pæne værelser, restaurant og parkering til bilen, så man får meget for prisen, dobbeltværelse med halvpension for € 74 pr. nat. Middagsmaden ikke noget særligt, men meget fin morgenmadsbuffet, med alt hvad hjertet begærer. Peñiscola har en flot promenade og ligger flot med stor borg, men lidt dødt udenfor sæsonen.

Muy recomendable, el servicio súper atento y amable; el hotel limpio y cómodo. Está a un paseo del castillo, muy agradable al lado Del Mar pero el autobús que te acerca, para Justo delante del hotel. Si vuelvo, repito seguro.
