“Timeless Classic”
Californias 2nd oldest hotel and the only Hotel to survive the 1951 fire on Catalina Island. A quaint Hotel with "TURN OF THE CENTURY CHARM".
“Historic hotel, friendly staff”
There's alot of history about this hotel, the oldest of Catalina. The staff are more than willing to tell you about it and help you with ideas for dining and activities.
“Great place to stay for the price and location”
We stayed during the off season, so it wasn't so crowded or noisy. Spacious for a family of four. Served continental breakfast every morning, which helps when you have two little ones. Location was right in the heart of Avalon, everything was just walking distance. Employees was helpful and great, picked us up and dropped us off at the dock, eventhough that was only a short walking distance also.
“Great Location, worth the stay.”
The location of this hotel is great, right downtown Avalon, close to everything , you wont need to rent a golf cart to get around and you can just walk there when you get off your boat. The hotel is pretty basic in its amenities but the staff is great. Trying to cordinate a boat time with check-in time was not easy, so my girlfriend and I showed up 4 hours early for check in, when we asked if we could leave our bags there whiile we killed time they told us they would check us in early, awesome. The rooms are small but everything is fresh, new paint new bedding, new jet tubs.Too many great outdoor things to do in Avalon anyway, shouldnt be spending too much time in the room. The only complaint was no ice machine, everytime I needed Ice I had to ask the front desk and they would run to the store and buy some, I kind of felt bad after a while.
“impressed”
This was my 1st trip to Catalina and I found the hotel very convenient to locations of interest. Hotel staff were helpful, regarding where to go, what to see. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to others.
“Very Unique”
The Glenmore is a very old hotel but kept clean and fuctional. A couple of small corks but not bad for a building of its age. Had a great time in Catalina and are already planing to pick our next date to return.
“Simply delightful”
We stayed here for two nights to see a little of Catalina. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was fairly basic and the hotel was showing it's age, but it was clean and comfortable. The location is one of the best in town, just off the main beachfront, plenty of options for eating and entertainment. Wi-fi in the room was a bit patchy, but it worked fine in the lobby and there were comfortable lounges there to sit on. Free breakfast was basic but fresh and tasty (and free). Overall great value for the price.
“Quaint”
Very clean. Wonderful hosts. Great location. Noisy window fan and A/C in courtyard.
“great location!”
Old hotel, great location. You can't really expect too much more on Catalina, so it's perfect for the price.
“not totaly impressed with the hotel, but not alot of choices”
