I so want to give The Excelsior the highest rating in all categories, but the air wasn't working in the hotel for the duration of my 5-night stay and one of the lifts went down on Sunday. None of it proved detrimental because thankfully it's April and still cool, so I didn't miss not having the filtered air working in my room all that much. And there are 2 lifts, so having 1 down for 1 day was also not a hardship. They will hopefully have their air conditioning/heating system working again soon and I would then certainly rate them Excellent throughout. The staff are absolutely lovely and so helpful and the location is perfect for a walk to the sea or amongst an avenue of fine stores or to jump on the city tour buses which depart from across the street. I would most certainly go back.

We stayed at the Liberty Hotel in Catania for Six Nights in May. It is a perfect time to be in the city and surrounding area.
The Hotel is beautifully appointed, tasteful and elegant. Breakfast was a treat with a great choice of good fresh fruit and cakes, good bread and a variety of traditional cheese.
Good Sicilean restaurants were recommended and we did not need to take taxis because the city centre is within 5 minutes walking distance. The train and bus terminus was a brisk 15 minute walk for us.
We send our very best wishes to the hotel staff, especially the staff at reception who were kind, competent and always had time to talk to us.

"Better hotel than the neighbourhood would suggest"
As we do not like beach holidays it was a convenient place for us to stay, the staff were helpful and pleasant, breakfast more than adequate, had air conditioning which was very good, could access the internet free of charge, cannot speak for the Wifi as did not need it altogether it was a good choice for us - we are not too hard to please!!! Clean comfortable bed and room - what more do you need?

This hotel is very clean and comfortable. Sheets and towels are changed daily. There is free wifi and a good range of TV channels.
Breakfast is varied and very good, with fresh fruit, excellent coffee and tea facilities, freshly squeezed orange juice, other juices, scrambled or boiled eggs and bacon, continental cheeses and ham and salad, croissants , breads and cakes, non gluten choices, and even sometimes panacotta!
The real stars however, are the staff, who are professional but at the same time very friendly and helpful.
We could mention particularly Joseph, a mine of information, and an excellent barman , waiter and snack producer. Alessandro was also very helpful and kind. Giovanna, on the front desk, researched car hire for us and found us a good deal which was also exactly what we wanted.
Most staff spoke good English, which was very helpful as our Italian is basic. We stayed for two weeks and would go back again to this hotel, which we thought good value for money.

Doesn't look particularly great on the outside but the hotel itself is absolutely fine. It's an airport hotel so you wouldn't want to be there for a week - but for an overnight stay after a late flight in it was great. Very modern inside - looks newly renovated. Superior room we had was very clean and very spacious - we had masses of room even with a cot in there. Excellent breakfast included in price with plenty of choice in the buffet and nice coffee. Would definitely stay again.
