We stayed for two weeks in an apartment in this 'agriturismo' guesthouse in Oct 2010. The owner speaks good English and could not have been more friendly and helpful, offering her guests fresh oranges, lemons and walnuts from the garden, and regularly checking that we had all we needed. It did rain quite a bit while we were there so we didn't use the swimming pool, which looked nice.
Breakfast is available in the guesthouse if required (5 euros) and Sabine cooks evening meals for guests occasionally in season (we chose to be self-catering as we were touring a lot).
Our ground-floor apartment comprised 3 rooms - a living/dining/kitchen, a bedroom with comfortable kingsize bed (European-style two single mattresses on double base) and a spacious bathroom with washbasin, bidet, WC, shower cubicle and plentiful hot water. The living/dining room had a dining table with four chairs, small TV with satellite (a few English-speaking channels), a double bunk-bed unit with wardrobe, and an elderly sofa-bed. The kitchen area had sink, cupboards, a four-burner gas hob & oven (no grill), tall fridge-freezer and basic utensils. There was no washing machine but Sabine offered laundry services if needed. There was an outside terrace area with table and chairs and lovely views.
The apartment was pleasantly located about 20 minutes from Giardini-Naxos and an hour from Catania airport. It was a good touring base and very good value. A much better choice than staying in a hotel in Taormina.
