Comfortable hotel

Posted Sep 10, 2014
Pros: Location is good, we enjoyed the pool and that it is by the sea.
Cons: It would be better if Spa was free for hotel guests because the price of 30Eur per day is too expensive.
Location: Nice promenade and you can find restaurants for dinner near by.
We enjoyed our stay in the hotel - staff were friendly and helpful. Design of the rooms and public places is very pretty. Breakfast was good.

Lovely stay lovely location

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Apart from needing a new lick of paint the hotel is very nice. And the views are spectacular and the sea access is amazing. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The location is beautiful but it is a good 5 miles from the centre of Catania so I would recommend hiring a car. The staff are all friendly and the reception staff speak excellent english however the restaurant staff speak very limited english. There is a daily menu however you can order off menu. The food is ok and perhaps slightly over priced. The food in the American pool side bar is poor and very expensive. The buffet breakfast however is very good and there is plenty of choice. All in all a nice hotel. I would stay again.

their staff can't speak English, specially waiters

Posted Aug 7, 2014
Pros: its a very big hotel with all the facilities.
Cons: if their staff could speak english it would be much better.
Location: there is no shop and supermarkets around, its about half an hour drive to get to the next village and find a restaurant.
it was disappointing that we couldn't order what we would like, as the waiters couldn't understand us, however food was very nice.

Good Hotel, Beautiful Location

Posted Jul 12, 2014
Pros: The amount of facilities from the gym to the private beach and pool side bar meant i had everything i needed in the grounds of the hotel
Cons: The staff were very helpful but some struggled with english so when i attempted to converse in an italian/english mix it was awkward and confusing
Location: The view of the sea was amazing however if you don't have a car getting to the nearest supermarket is quite hard as it is about a km away.
Came to Grand Hotel Baia Verde not expecting much but was very pleased with how beautiful it was and how many facilities it had. As an avid gym user i was very happy that the gym all be it very small was free. The spa had very good offers and enjoyed a very relaxing week.

great peaceful location

Posted Jul 6, 2014
Pros: comfortable bed sea views free bar snacks with evening drinks
Cons: breakfast-more hot food a shuttle service to airport or to catania?
Location: a good walk to any nearby restaurant or bar 20 minutes mount etna visit a must Catania-taormina
the location is great as its quiet and the views are wonderful, however catania is about 11km away and public bus runs whenever ,taxi about 25 euros, room was comfortable best sleep in ages, maybe a bit dark. Most rooms have a juliette balcony.Pool area and summer bar very nice.Breakfast great if you like lots of cake! otherwise the rest is poor.Knowledge of italian a bonus.Recommended the visit to mount etna !

Great setting on the cliffs above the sea

Posted Jul 6, 2014
Pros: It was a good combination of an established hotel with modern updates eg wifi, Sky television (we are sports fans).
Cons: Not a lot - perhaps a stand alone gym not associated with the Wellness Centre.
Location: The are excursions available, but these need to be self-organised. The open top tourist bus was good, but the time table was a bit unpredictable.
Thoroughly enjoyable stay for what we were looking for. The staff were excellent and made one feel a valued guest. The pool area was great and the bar served excellent cocktails. We were not looking for great beaches so the location suited us well.

Comfortable hotel, close to sea with parking

Posted Apr 20, 2014
Pros: The staff and the location
Cons: Tea and coffee in the rooms, but they did have a minibar if required.
Location: Mt Etna visits and circumnavigation tours, Taormina -riviera-type location in the Etna foothills, Ragusa, Modica and Syracusa for history. Car a must.
Well appointed hotel with most helpful staff. Great sun terrace overlooking sea, with good swimming pool. Delightful bar, offering free snacks with pre-dinner drinks. In-house restaurant serves lovely local food, but reception happy to recommend other establishments. Free on-site parking a huge bonus.
