Excellent Hotel in Catania town centrePosted Nov 3, 2013
We definitely were lucky to fall on this hotel which is in excellent condition. The town is very patchy, some buildings have been restored, next to others which have left to ruin over 100 years. The story of Sicily, de-population. The hotel is very central, with adorable staff. And....not too many Americans. IB

Nice hotel close to attractions.Posted Oct 27, 2013
Pros: The staff. Closeness to major attractions.
Cons: Room was hot and we could not cool it. Only a bar available for snacks. No meals available.
Location: Hotel is very hard to find if you drive. Not a problem if going by taxi. 5 minutes from the Duomo and the "elephant" statue.
Our stay was extremely short because we were catching a plane next morning. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and neat but hot. Remainder of the hotel was a comfortable temperature. Were able to walk to the Duomo in about 5 minutes.

Dear Guest, thank you for choosing us. We appreciated your positive comments about the staff and the cleaness of the room. In october the outside temperature is less than 25 °C and our system doesn't allow to cool the room under 18 °C. If you open the window, the airco doesn't work because of the energy saving. Probably you tryed to make cool the internal temperature by opening the windows, but the results was that the airco stopped working. Looking forward to see you soon again Best regards Marco De Pinto Hotel Manager

Very well located to. Catania center.Posted Oct 14, 2013
Cons: Larger lobby
Location: Restaurants a plenty
Having just 2 days it was perfect. One of the days was Sunday so a lot was closed but it was fun to explore this city anyway.

Friday Night StayPosted Oct 11, 2013
Location: All things were in walking distance, which made it very convenient.
Our stay was very nice, with the exception of the party on the stairway below our balcony. We made the mistake of not going down to join the group. Sleep was futile until 2:20 in the morning when the party ended.

Fantastic location, great room, nice people.Posted Oct 6, 2013
Pros: Decor and bathroom tile very nice. Bathroom completely functional and clean. Minibar reasonable. Breakfast buffet very good.
Location: Many nice old neighborhoods and churches to explore. Near the city market and Greek and Roman ruins.
Il Principe is probably the best location in old Catania. We stayed here one night and didn't want to leave. The room rate was very reasonable. By far the best hotel we stayed in out of 4 hotels on our recent trip to Italy. There are many interesting restaurants near the hotel. About 12 euro cab ride to the train station. The building (s) that house the hotel are historic. The lobby decor is very tasteful. We would recommend this to everyone going to Catania.

Centrally located pleasant hotelPosted Sep 24, 2013
We stayed in a suite in the new annexe of Il Principe and enjoyed the comfort it offered. The beds were comfortable, there was a good choice of TV channels in various languages on both televisions, and the bathroom was stocked with the usual toiletries as expected. The suite was spacious and very clean throughout. We were more than happy with the room! The hotel staff went out of their way to make sure that our needs were met. Special mention goes to the manager, Marco, who was extremely friendly and did everything he could to make sure our stay was pleasant, and Laura at reception, who was excellent at answering all our questions about transport and the local area. The only flaw in Marco's advice was that he recommended a local restaurant called 'Antica Sicilia' to us, which we went to on our first night. Though the food was delicious, the service was bad and the prices not great - we later found another restaurant the same distance from the hotel called 'La Collegiata', with food that was just as good but with much better service and prices. For breakfast there were pastries, cold meats, chopped melon and pineapple, and boiled egg, which was good. However, there was no toast, or scrambled/fried egg. A poster in the lifts described the 'Sicilian breakfast' on offer, on asking where the Sicilian breakfast was it turned out the poster in the lift was actually referring to separate, post-breakfast service which I assume you pay separately for.

Superb Location with a Professional StaffPosted Sep 17, 2013
This hotel is superbly situated in the heart of historic Catania, poised at the point where the Via Alessi turns into a great outdoor staircase that rises to culminate in the Via Crociferi along which three of Catania's Baroque churches are located. Comprised of several buildings, the hotel is a model of discretion, blending its historic facades with minimalist modern interiors that feature high-quality furnishings. The bedrooms are a restful blend of minimalist dark wood surfaces with light walls, and the bathrooms likewise continue the minimalist theme in white marble. All systems were in perfect working order: plumbing, air conditioning, flat screen television, and lighting. The emphasis upon quality continued in the public spaces as well as the breakfast buffet. The staff was a model of professionalism, imbuing the entire establishment with the aura of a well-functioning timepiece. It was a delight each day to return to this oasis of calm and order after exploring the wondrously variegated architecture and social life of the city. It formed the perfect counterpoint to the liveliness grittiness of Catania's Baroque urban landscape, and I highly recommend it.

Loved this hotel!Posted Aug 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
This is a beautiful, well-maintained hotel close to many sites of interest, shops, and great restaurants. Just a short stroll to the Duomo! The room and bathroom were well appointed with modern decor and very clean. The jacuzzi tub was an unexpected bonus. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I would absolutely stay at this hotel again. One minor note: upon checkout I was informed that my prepaid booking did not include the (very small) city tax. As I was short on cash, they waived it in the end.
