“Comfortable room, friendly service and good restaurant”

I generally don't like travel because it's never been comfortable enough like being at home. But my stay at Le Dune Sicily Hotel is very different from all my previous experiences of hotels, most of which are luxury ones. Le Dune is not luxury but has very comfortable rooms (to me, a comfortable bed matrix is the key element). The hotel restautrant food is best after tried several places in the city including a luxury banquet. They always have one staff who speaks English on duty, one of them speaks perfect English, very professional and helpful. I would stay their again.

“Nice Beach nice surroundings”

Hotel is set in nice surroundings, with a small swimming pool. From 15 June - 15 September there is free entrance to Lido Azzarro, just across the busy main road. You can buy tickets for the buses into Catania town from Tabacchi in the Lido Azzarro. The Hotel is very close to the airport, and the Hotel has a Airport shuttle service. Breakfast was ok, with fresh fruit for the first few days, and also the water for making tea was also luke warm. Don't bother to eat at the Hotel Restaurant, eat in Catania or goto Hotel Romano Palace.

“Tropical flavor”

We stayed at Le Dune only one night after flying into Catania, but it impressed us as a very relaxed and attractive hotel. Although the stretch of beach across the main road from the hotel isn't what I would call lovely, there are plenty of nearby private beaches that seemed quite nice if that's what you want. The hotel itself reminded us of some resorts in Puerto Vallarte. The landscaping is tropical and well maintained, and the room was quiet and mediterranean in flavor. Typically Italian, it wasn't huge, but in all respects quite pleasant with lots of nice little decorating touches. The photos on the hotel's website are good representations of what you will find when you arrive. I would recommend it without hesitation.

“Just fine for a one night stay near the airport”

Tip for you: at the airport cab rank, agree a price before you set off - DON'T let it go on the meter..

“Convenient to airport and the city”

5 minutes from Catania Fontanarossa Airport by car, but they do have a shuttle. Which you should use, because the parking here is limited, and they can get filled up...in which case, I don't know where you would park. The restaurant was good (although I was the only person in it!), and another friend of mine stayed here one night and I helped her check in...she asked for a non-smoking room and the desk clerk said in stilted English that it's no problem - you just "open a window!" I heard another guest complain to the desk about the smoke smell in the room, but the one I was in didn't smell bad.

“More than we expected”

We will stay there again when we return in 2009. Still can't believe that their bar could make an Absolute Martini on the rocks. Good recommendation.

“Stay the night but eat somewhere else.”

. The hotel was great. Directly across from the beach. (Warning the beach is not as clean as you may expect) If you see a tour bus near the hotel, skip the restaurant! I was given bow tie pasta with caned sauce and bad house wine for E30. I believe the restaurant was overly busy and could not handle the crowed. I wasn’t even offered a choice accept beef or fish. I had to ask for bread. This is NOT your typical Sicilian restaurant. Two blocks from the Hotel in either direction you will find MUCH better food. I could not lower the hotels rating because of my dining experience. The rooms were clean and the bed was equally comfortable to any I had encountered in Sicily. As long as you eat somewhere else this hotel is perfect. Close enough to the airport to make it convenient but not so close you get the noise.

“Nice enough but not as advertised”

"Complimentary airport transfers" are only avaliable if booked prior to arrival/departure, and then not before 7am or 8am, depending on who you ask. Did not get morning wake up call, would have missed flight if we hadn't woken up on time. Taxi from airport is 25 euros which seems very high for the short distance. Hotel room was basic, but fairly recently renovated and clean. Pool area was nice although pool was not large. Beach is accross the road, and looks like it would be a very busy place in peak season. Check out Agora hostel (Piazza Curro) for a fun and friendly place to eat and drink. Good luck.

“Not impressed”

While clean the hotel was bleak and characterless. Apart form the maitre de the staff were clearly very inexperienced and had no grasp of english (forgivable, but it would have been nice if they had tried to communicate). The housekeeper apparently left before our arrival so we were unable to get an extra blanket for one of the rooms - though housekeeping was advertised in their brochure as a 24 hour service. There were no blankets in either of the two rooms we booked and one of our party genuinely needed extra bedding. The available bar staff didn't know how to to mix a campari and soda, they couldn't find change for our bar bill. The whole place had a run down feel it. In view of this the meal in the restaurant was surprisingly good, straightforward and deftly served. A serviceable hotel for a last night stay close to the airport, but overpriced.

“Disappointed”

We were disappointed with the hotel especially the disinterested unfriendly staff. Although they offer an airport pickup service they simply are reluctant to do this. The 2.5 mile trip costs 20 euros. The bus service into town is infrequent and no bus timetable so you just wait..and wait ...a taxi for the 2 mile trip is 14 euros. The buffet breakfast could be good but they simply put out too little food and do not replenish. There is a nice pool and sun deck. Ther are some lovely places to visit from Catania but you wouldn't find out from the staff!
