“Be Careful What You Ask For”

We arrived at Cebu by fast 2Go Ferry and transferred to Crown Regency. It was older style hotel with 2 busloads of high school students arriving at same time. Staff quickly attended to our check in and we were taken to our room immediately. The beds were big and comfortable but the bathroom water was COLD. The Air Conditioner froze up and water was leaking into the room. When l asked Reception for hot shower, shortly after, a service man came to the room and restored the hot water system to maximum Hot 80deg. Unfortunately the water was too hot to shower, but l found the water heater andy l adjusted water temperature. Next night at 8.30pm, night manager, engineer and assistant arrived with replacement air conditioner. As we were sleeping we asked him to come back the following morning. Despite my request, engineer and assistant came into the room, leaving outside door open for all to see my partner still asleep in bed. Not happy with this, l told them to leave, and eventually they got the message. Next day when they arrived, they seemed to understand English a lot better. Room Service and Restaurant food was excellent, and set breakfast was simple but enjoyable. After our experience, we were contacted by duty manager and we had free shuttle bus service to and from City and Air port, with promise of room upgrade on our next vist!

While taking an early lunch with my quests (with also my sister, who went to Cebu also for a vacation, who is a Travel Coordinator of a San Diego Cal Firm) at the hotels' restuarant, a scurring rat (mind you ,a rat) ran across the floor to the other side of room to the disbelief of my group. My sister instinctively yelled at the top of her voice like as if seeing a ghost. The manager, a Mr. Danny, approached our table (the place was empty & htere were only five of us there) and inquired about the commotion. We told him about the "Dancing Ra(t)scal" that greeted us for lunch. The condition and upkeep of the hotel, to me, needs a serious consideration. Take for example their swimming pool. They claim that it is a heated pool. It is not. The pool stench. I ask an attendant when was the last time they replaced the pool water, he just smiled at me and turn back and went on his "merry way". When we up-graded our room to a penthouse, the TV's in the bedrooms don't work. Faucet screws fell out from its sockets. Doorknobs can lock you in. I got locked in the master bedroom bathroom for almost 30 minutes after a screw from the doorknob came loose and the doorknob got stucked. Altho' the pent-house was such a great room to stay, what with those two huge beautiful bedrooms and the grand beds, those large sculpture objects like the "Last Supper", the floorings and the walls, they were all made of hard wood. It has its negative points tho' like roaches. They're to be reckon with.

“BUFFET BREAKFAST?!”

I was shocked at the quality of the room we stayed. It's old and bare. The walls have cracks. The a/c is not working well. When we ask for a bucket of ice, the first request arrived 40minutes later. When we requested for another one, it didn't arrived at all. This is a bad choice of hotel if you have a connecting flight to another city or country since this hotel is located 1 hour away from the airport. When we went downstairs, we were shocked that the buffet breakfast is nowhere to be found. We were told to order from the menu and that's it. We didn't get what we paid for. We will never go back to this property again unless they made changes to their hotel walls and services.
