Hotel was close to Iowa City & the outlet mall.

Pros: The location was convenient to where we were going.
Cons: Friendlier staff that are more accommodating.
Location: Near Iowa City; the Williamsburg Outlet Mall; & the Amana Colonies.
The amenities were interesting: there was a dining room table & a hutch/buffet, but only had 2 towels in a room reserved for 3. We requested extra pillows & none were available; they "were all out". We did not arrive until after midnight & the desk clerk was rude & grumpy....she accused my children (ages 16 & 18) of throwing food in the hotel lobby, which they did not do. I was TOTALLY unimpressed w/ her as the only representative of their facility. I may have had a more favorable overall rating of our stay had my 1st interaction (w/ the front desk clerk) been more pleasant.

It was a decent place to stay. The signage was a little confusing. I wasn't sure if I was at the right place. Generic breakfast but I didn't care.

Pros: The hot tub.
Cons: Everything
Location: Huge Strip Mall and the Amana Colonies not to far away.
Until this hotel does some room renovations I will not be staying there anymore. Extremely outdated, rips in carpet with an overall dirty "feel" and look to it. Bed very uncomfortable. Several staff members were helpful while several you could tell didn't even want to be there. I was polite about finding a used Kleenex in the Ice bucket, a dead spider under the sink, and a dead spider in the hot tub. Plus not to mention the rough sheets and air conditioner that barely bows air out of it. The hot tub was great, but that is about all I can say was a positive. When I told the staff about the dead spiders they blew it off, "Oh this is the season for them to come in". However they had been dead for a while, so that tells me that the room had not been cleaned for quite some time nor stayed in. the first morning I went to take a shower the bathroom light was burnt out. The housekeeping staff was not there yet so I had to keep turning on the heat lamp light to get ready in the morning. No discount was offered for all the inconveniences.

Carolyn at desk very nice and helpful. Room very musty, carpet damp, A/C unit not working properly. Did let us change room, a/c not any better. Marginal breakfast.

I was not very impressed with the outside of the hotel when we pulled it up. It looked like it had been thru a tornado with siding and shingles falling off. There were weeds growing everywhere in the landscaping. The hot tub was out of order and not a single hotel personnel mentioned that on the several calls I had to make. I booked on line and within a half hour they called and told me that there was a mistake in booking and they could only give me a smoking room. On our way there that night they called and asked if I could cancel my room with who I booked it with and they could rebook at a savings to me. I could not cancel because it was already after 4pm. I arrived and I ended up finally getting my room that was no smoking. The breakfast was horrible. Skim milk, cereal tasted funny. I am not sure how old the waffles were and there was no sugar free syrup for my husband who is diabetic. The coffee tasted awful!

Would not upgrade room

Pros: It was close to shopping and Amana Colonies (a little German town).
Cons: Restuff furniture. Have hot tub in working order.
Location: Outlet mall across the street. Williamsburg 5 miles away. A very nice winery 5 miles away. Also close to Amana Colonies.
They would not upgrade our room to a Loft when we found out we had more family coming. The reason is because we went through Expedia. When I asked to speak with the Manager there was not one on sight and they wouldn't give me the phone number to the owners. I also almost fell off a chair because it didn't have anymore stuffing in it and when I told the employee they acted like they didn't care and didn't even remove the chair. It was heard the place flooded and it did smell musty. Also the hot tub was shut down. I wouldn't recommend this place.

For 13 years my wife and I always choose this hotel on our travels. We often stayed two times per year and found that this hotel (previously a Best Western) was good due to closeness to the Amana Colonies and shopping. This is the first time we stayed since it became the Best Inn Cozy House. The cleanliness and comfort of the room were good (as was always in the past), but there are a few areas that could use improvements. The landscape is terrible and the building needs major upgrades. Surprised the flood lights haven't started the blue spruce's on fire. The old Best Western management is partly to blame. The management staff could use come training in hotel management when meeting guests. I found the senior front desk member working days seemed harsh and blunt in her responses. Evening coverage not much better. The front desk people acted like we were imposing on them. They should greet their guests with a simple "Good Morning or Good Afternoon, how may I help you". Courtesy and politeness can go a long way.

Had everything we needed...

Nice stay for 3 nights. Close to many sights, and enjoyed the mall across the way...we enjoyed the pool each evening, and the breakfast was sufficient. This hotel was a great fit for our needs.

The bed was not comfortable. But the room was large. The continental breakfast did not have many food choices. Half of the chaise lounge chairs at the pool were broken. And the hot tub was broken.
