“Good Hotel at Good Price”

Very good value

“No eggs or danishes on the breakfast buffet and no SyFy channel but has wireless broadband Internet.”

My primary area of disappointment is no eggs nor any danishes on the breakfast buffet. The room was fine. Staff was friendly. The wireless Internet bandwidth was good. I was disappointed that the cable tv service did not include the SyFy channel (a personal favorite).

“Multiple experiences have been good”

Have been here multiple times. Great desk and breakfast staff. Had interaction with Asst Mgr who was fabulous when I had a small issue. Hotel is a little older, but my rooms have always been fine with respect to cleanliness and maintenance.

“Friendly staff”

I have extended family in Iowa City and stay at the Hampton Inn when I'm back to visit. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The front desk staff are always friendly and helpful. I recommend it!

Never stayed at a Hampton before and we were pleasantly surprised.

“So-so”

The hotel was clean and well-maintained and the breakfast staff was great. The staff at the front desk in the morning, however, was absent for a long period of time and unavailable when I needed some assitance. Also, I was preparing to give a paper at a conference and asked for a late check-out (I requested an extra hour) and they could not accommodate me, which I found annoying. I will probably try somewhere else next time.

“Needs maintenance upgrade”

Good location, nice staff, convenient to restaurants, but the rooms need maintenance. Toilet and air conditioning in the room were both not functioning and it shouldn't have been news to the staff. Two knobs were broken off the air conditioner- deperate guests trying to get the temperature below 90 degrees in the room. By morning with the AC at full blast all night the temperature had probably reached a comfortable 75 degrees. The toilet was running when I arrived with a pool of condensenation on the bathroom floor. The toilet lever was hanging on the side missing a few parts- an apparent repair in progress at some point that just never got completed. This hotel has potential if management elects to pay attention to detail. Right now with so many hotels in the area closed due to flooding it's going to be sold out regardless. Try to arrive early so you can secure a room in working condition.
