Need More InformationPosted Jul 16, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel was very modern. However, the amount of information available in the room was limited. No channel guides for the TV, no city information, no check-in/check-out information. The hot and cold taps weren't even labeled. I had to call the front desk for routine info multiple times. They should update the binders in the room to contain these important pieces of data. Also, the air conditioner in the room was pretty loud. Otherwise, the food at Share Wine Bistro was great and the view was good and the beds were super comfortable. I'd stay here again.

Great modern hotel in downtown Iowa CityPosted Jul 5, 2013 on Hotels.com
Great location, beautiful modern rooms, comfortable beds. Beautiful view of the pedestrian mall, Public Library and the Old Capitol. Friendly desk and housekeeping service.

A Gem with some FlawsPosted Jul 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
Overall it was a terrific stay. This hotel really is a gem in the middle of Iowa City. There is a very "upscale" City vibe with the modern furnishings and exposed concrete floors. The front desk staff was courteous and helpful. But that enthusiasm is not shared by the rest of the staff as there were pots and pans sitting outside rooms along with dishes and cups in the floor lobby. One of the two elevators would not read the room-key to activate the floor buttons and the staff response was "just use the other elevator". Had it not been for these two flaws the illusion of modern city living in the heart of the Midwest would have been complete. I still highly recommend Hotel Vetro for its great accommodations, proximity to shops and restaurants and Midtown Manhattan feel at a calm Midwestern pace.

Not worth the pricePosted Jun 27, 2013
Pros: The bed was very comfortable.
Cons: Fix the a/c noise!!!!
Location: Close to campus
The only thing comfortable about this hotel was the bed or they would have received one ratings across the board. The a/c sounds as though a street cleaner is moving through your room and if you have a partner that gets up to use the bathroom in the night, get ready to be blinded! The hotel is trying very hard to be modern/contemporary but they don't follow up with any comfort. The chair/couch were rigid and uncomfortable. I opted to get an emailed bill but still haven't received one two days later and it went through my account almost $40 higher than it should have. Yes, it was close to the campus, but next time we'll drive a bit further and have a more pleasant stay elsewhere.

Hotel Vetro shares pool facilityPosted Jun 23, 2013
Pros: Contemporary, full kitchen
Cons: Towels at the pool facility
Hotel Vetro shares their pool with the Sheraton. You have to travel through two separate gym facilities to get to the Sheraton pool. When we finally arrived at the pool. there were no towels available in the pool area or in the attached gym. So my two kids and I dripped all the way back to our room. The room itself was great. Contemporary. However, there was a live band that was playing on a Sunday night and was quite loud. Difficult to get a 2 and 4 year old to ignore.

Modern rooms- the downtown experience!Posted Jun 10, 2013
Pros: The bed and the deep bathtub.
Cons: outside noise
Location: very modern
Most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. The only criticism I have would be the noise outside. There was a festival with a live band, and a wedding on the roof top patio just below my room with music blasting.
