Great location to the University.

Posted Jul 27, 2014
Pros: The beds and bedding are the best.
Cons: We stayed on the club level and we were surprised that the hallway carpet and walls were dirty. Club level breakfast needed a meat selection.
Location: Near the University and many places to eat.
We chose the Sheraton due to the location to the University. We loved the room but most importantly the beds are awesome. We love getting a good nights sleep after a long day. We stayed on the club level. Not sure worth the extra money. We were not at the hotel except to sleep. The breakfast on the club level not what I thought it could or should be.

Nice hotel close to U of I

Posted Jul 2, 2014
Pros: The short distance to The U of I
My son was at U of I and the hotel was nice and clean and close walking distance to everything. I did not know I had to pay for parking, but it was less than the city park.

Big city comforts in Iowa City hotel.

Posted Jun 30, 2014
Pros: Location, cleanliness, updated rooms.
Cons: Breakfast menu is overpriced.
Location: You are in the middle of Iowa City and walking distance to the university; need I say more?
The Sheraton is in the heart of Iowa City, walking distance to anywhere on the University of Iowa campus and the surrounding town. Clean, modern, professional staff, updated rooms, comfy beds and great amenities. We got a great deal through Expedia while we were visiting for our son's orientation at U of Iowa, and with so much going on for those 2 days the location was as perfect as you can get. I'm sure it's not an easy hotel to book in the height of football season, but if you can get a good deal I'd highly recommend checking it out. Maybe not the cheapest hotel price-wise, but you can't beat it for location, service and overall experience.

one of the dirtiest rooms I have ever stayed in

Posted Jun 26, 2014
Pros: location
Cons: cleanliness
Location: walking mall and Univ. of iowa
This motel is at the heart of downtown Iowa City with close proximity to the Univ. of Iowa Campus. It is a shame that it is completely filthy throughout. From the lobby, elevators, and hallways to the rooms themselves, this is a dirty place. It looked like our room had not even been cleaned. There was a dirty washcloth hanging in the shower and so much dust and dirt in the corners that you could barely see the carpet. This is so easily fixed with management that cares and maid service that is actually cleaning.

Sleep-able, but thought it would be nicer

Posted Jun 20, 2014
Pros: Great location
Cons: Rooms need updated, this should be a more modern hotel
Location: Downtown Iowa City is gorgeous and a lot of fun with great things to do
Our room was badly in need of updating. There walls needed painting and the carpet was from 1978. The worst part about the hotel was our noisy A/C unit that turned on several times through the night and kept us up for as long as it was on.

Okay stay... But they need to renovate. The hallway and room carpets need replaced. Downtown Iowa City needs another luxury hotel... Then maybe the Sheraton will upgrade.

Really good hotel!

Posted Jun 11, 2014
Pros: Location, comfort
Cons: Better administration of the common areas.
Location: Downtown, near restaurants and shopping
Hotel is great! Great location right downtown, near restaurants and shopping. Room was spacious and comfortable. Staff was nice. The only problem we had was that there were several kids teams (I think baseball) what overcrowded the elevators and the pool area with some of them disturbing the other guests. We were not able to use the pool as one of them puked on it!

Very well located

Posted May 27, 2014
Pros: See above
Cons: Better deal on parking, more firm beds
Location: Situated adjacent to a pedestrian street with many restaurants and shops.
We found this hotel to be ideally located for our visit to Iowa City. The lobby was chilly and the beds were very very soft, the parking was $12/day, and a few of the electrical outlets in our room didn't work, but overall it was fine. Nice appointments and decoration. Comfortable temps in the room.
