“Very impressive hotel!”

We all absolutely loved the modern decor of the hotel; Very, very classy. Every employee went out of their way to be friendly, and the service was wonderful. The food was excellent, beautifully presented, which was a good thing as there weren't any other choices of restaurants close by. The beds and pillows, which I often object to in a hotel were very comfortable. The fact that it was also a culinary school and offered several other fields of study, such as hotel management, made our stay very unique. We would highly recommend this hotel, and if we ever have another reason to go to Cedar Rapids again, we would definately stay there.

“More than a place to stay.”

Beautiful accomodations. Service, facilities and surroundings top notch and peaceful. We have been coming up to Iowa City for 4 years and just discovered the H at K. Better than any we have experienced up here, including the Big 2 in IC. Hats of to the Hotel at Kirkwood.

“Great Modern Hotel in Iowa??”

My husband and I spent a long weekend here after our wedding. It was a great break from the hotels we had used growing up - beautiful rooms and bathrooms, great service and so fun to go to such an upscale restaurant right in the lobby! I definitely recommend this hotel!

“very pleasant”

we travel to CR about twice a year for antiques shows & usually stay downtown (hotel being renovated). Anyway the Kirkwood looked interesting online & we took a bit of a gamble on the unknown. Well it was well worth the risk, fresh new hotel with pleasant well designed interiors and polite staff. This hotel is a whole level above the average stucco box chain sprawl. Good restaurant with room service a big plus. Great value.

“Best Hotel We Have Ever Stayed In!”

Wonderful hotel with a beautiful contemporary decor scheme throughout. Marble in the bathrooms, flat-screen tv, free Wi-Fi, complimentary use of Keurig coffee brewer and K-cups- everything was fabulous. Our room (and everything else in the hotel) was maintained impeccably, and we had a very restful sleep experience. Usually my husband wakes up around 5:30 AM- but here we both slept until a startling 8 AM! The room was quiet, and the curtains provided near pitch-black darkness. The in-house restaurant "A Class Act" was also exceptionally good- gourmet food prepared by the culinary arts students at Kirkwood Community College. The prices were great, too! We definitely recommend this hotel!

“"What a Shocker!"”

This hotel was the perfect mini getaway, especially if you are craving something out of the ordinary. It's contemporary and truly, truly sophisticated. Striking designs, furniture pieces and colors! When I checked in a couple of the staff at the front desk seemed a tad "uncordial" if you will, perhaps that could be attributed to something I wasn't aware of. I got a call as soon as I got to my room- it was the front desk asking if my room was to my satisfaction (nice touch). The beds were really comfortable as well as the shower. Really nice. Room service was great too. The staff manager was definately more friendly during my checkout. This was honestly a great stay and I highly recommend staying here even if you have to travel a little out of the way. I think it's worth it.

“"A Gem"”

When she made the reservation, my wife really didn't know there was anything special about this hotel. But it is special. It is run by students of Kirkwood Community College majoring in Hotel Management or Culinary Arts or other associated fields and they are determined that you will enjoy your stay. Everyone is very friendly, but it's not just a facade, they mean it. The hotel is of contemporary design and beautiful. The rooms are at least 20-30% larger than a comparably priced hotel and the fixtures are of high quality. I have no real reason to go back to Cedar Rapids, but I'm tempted just to stay in this hotel again.

Very Nice hotel. Wish there could have been a complimentary breakfast for the price charged per night.

“Fantastic hotel experience”

This hotel is fantastic! My boyfriend and I decided to stay based on previous reviews and we were not disappointed. The decor is modern, classy, and comfortable, the room was divine with a bed that rivaled the infamous Westin bed in comfort, the bathroom was beautiful with a huge walk-in shower, the staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, and the dinner we had at the restaurant was divine: cooked by students in training and in a beautiful romantic dining room. The location of the hotel is the only thing that could have been improved. It's located at the outskirts of the city, close to the highway and the airport, but other than that all I can say is that this place is THE hotel to stay at when you're in Cedar Rapids.
