Would not go back

Posted Jul 30, 2015
Pros: Price
Cons: Appearance, plumbing
No elevator, dirty and hot stairwells. Rooms are fairly clean but old. Found bobby pin on the counter in the bathroom and shower would not turn on without a call to maintenance. Backside of hotel when driving around to your room entrance is unkempt with shopping carts and things sitting out.

This hotel shouldn't even be listed!

Posted Jul 28, 2015
We knew it wasn't a fancy hotel at the time we booked it, as we simply needed a place to get some sleep for a few hours while traveling cross country. However, this hotel was inaccurately rated -- should have been a 1 star -- and was in unacceptably poor condition. We had to make our way past construction materials and mess to enter through the rear entrance closest to our room. The hotel looks like its under renovation of some kind? However, there was no heads up or indication of this fact at the time of booking. We entered the room to find a bug sitting right on top of the pillow on the bed. Carpets seemed old enough to vote and I felt uncomfortable walking around without shoes on. One of the worst hotel stay experiences I've ever had.

Good hotel at a great price.

Posted Jul 20, 2015
Pros: staff, service and price. convenient on/off from the highway. clean room with plenty of space.
Cons: fluffier pillows. :)
Location: We were on a road trip and just needed a safe/clean place to stop for the night. This place fit the bill perfectly.
Okay, so the hotel isnt exactly the Four Seasons, but it's clean, safe, and the staff were awesome. It's a family-ran establishment, and it's clear that they care about their customers. Amenities, etc. were on-par with what we expected for the price, and we were excited to find a place at such a great rate. (We dont need much and are always happy when we can find a nice hotel that doesnt go overboard with amenities that ultimately just drive the price up.) The hotel is being updated, but we did not find it disruptive to our stay. I bet it will look awesome when done.

Cheap room; you get what you pay for

Remodeling going on. Halls dirty from construction. Materials and furniture stacked against walls in hallways. Linens clean but towels thin and small. Found toenails on floor of room. In-room phone didn't work.

old outdated hotel

Posted Jul 13, 2015
the rooms, while clean, had mismatched curtains, chairs and bedspreads. the tv was difficult to work. there was construction mess in the halls and construction noise at times. I could hear the tv and people talking from the room next to me. the carpet had stains, like from a hot iron being on the carpet. if I had known the hotel was under renovation I would not have stayed there. the area around the hotel is rather rundown and there are no stores nearby. there is a restaurant by the hotel but the clerk at the hotel did not say it was good only that she had tried a few things. breakfast was supposed to go until 9 but when I went to the lobby at about twenty til 9 there was nothing much left for breakfast.

Great location. Nice bed.

The motel is under construction, and it is apparent. There are burn marks on the carpet. The screens are all missing from the windows, so they cannot be opened. The bed was really comfortable. The service was great.

A night sleep for cheap

Posted Jul 1, 2015
Pros: Fairly close to the University of Iowa.
Cons: Replace the old air conditioner / heater units. New carpet would be a good move.
Location: If you have reason to be in Iowa City it is pretty close to everything.
Friendly staff and it served my purposes. It's old and the air conditioner was noisy. But I got a decent night's sleep and appreciate the continental breakfast.
