Friendly staff, disappointing hotelPosted May 11, 2014
Pros: The staff (very friendly)
Cons: Hygeine Mosquito issue Uncomfortable small room with no view
Location: Plenty of things to do, as it's very close by the city center
Whilst the staff was very friendly, I was very disappointed in the hotel. Upon entering our room we noticed the walls and ceiling were covered with small blood stains. It didn't take long to realize that the blood had come from mosquitoes that were hit against the wall, as we were bombarded by about 7-8 mosquitoes that were all over our hotel room (and it wasn't even mosquito season). We also noticed hair on the bathroom floor which was very off-putting. I would have thought that with the room being as small as it was, it would have been rather easy to clean. However, it seemed no effort was put into cleaning the room aside from clean sheets and fresh pillows. The staff was the only saving grace for our duration. They were very nice and friendly, and are the only reason I have given this hotel a 2 out of 5, rather than a 1 out of 5.

Good for the Single TravellerPosted Jun 9, 2013
I stayed at Anessis Hotel for one night on my way from Thessaloniki to Volos and it was perfect as a single traveller. The room was clean and a good size for one person. The staff are very friendly and helpful, there is good, free wifi and they offered a decent selection of food at breakfast. You have to go out for other meals as they don't have a restaurant, however, and the hotel is a bit off the beaten track so not ideal if you're looking for shops, restaurants or nightlife.

There are better hotels a few hundred metres awayPosted May 1, 2013
Pros: Staff were very friendly and helpful
Cons: Bar facilities, out of stock of the drinks i drink and the fact you could only purchase limited food here, no real lunch or evening meals.
Location: Close to the main streets, near the harbor
The hotel itself doesnt look too great from the outside, very dated. But inside it is nicer, the staff were friendly upon arrival and checking in was a fairly easy process. The hotel was described as "non-smoking" but yet people still smoke in the bar areas, and the rooms and corridors smelt of smoke. The hotel facilities were fairly limited, you could have limited lunch - cheese on toast or a club sandwich, and you could not have an evening meal here. While this hotel was o.k. for the few nights i was there, i wouldnt recommend it to anyone spending a long time here, if you stay in thessaloniki for a 5 days or more i would consider looking elsewhere - i would give it 3/5 stars. There are better hotels in the area for around the same price.
