On the beach

Posted Oct 20, 2014
We went for our 22 anniversary. We paid more for 1 night than we did a months rent the first few years of our marriage. The hotel is old and outdated for that much money. Parking is "through the tunnel and up the hill across the street"..in the rain. Our key didn't work half of the time, and the furniture in the suite was old, worn out and uncomfortable. Room service was an hour, although we were warned that it would be 1/2 an hour, and in the morning the "complimentary" in room coffee only included 1 coffee cup.. Good thing in 22 years we have learned to take turns!

Pros: fabulous view of the ocean, mini kitchen was good.
Cons: paint the rusted baseboard heaters upgrade the furniture

Staff and views outshine a slightly outdated room

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: The restaurant The staff The bedding/LOVE the pillows The views
Cons: The kitchenette
Location: * Whale watching in Depoe Bay * Chinook winds casino * Private hotel beach access * Newport Aquarium * Putt-Putt and batting cages in Lincoln City
We were a little bummed when we checked in as we were under the impression that our room had a balcony. The stove in the room was a little out-dated, (haven't seen ones with buttons like that before). We also had a pair of beds, I suggested that my boyfriend and I could each have one but he wasn't having any of it. It was kind of nice to have such a large space to spread all our stuff on. After all that, however, we had a really amazing stay. The staff people were freaking amazing. The food was amazing. And the views were astounding. I spent Saturday morning drinking a latte and having the crab benedict in the Fathoms restaurant while looking out over the ocean. I think next time we might just call the hotel directly and save ourselves of the troubles of not knowing what type of room we're getting. The bed was really comfy and the tv was nice even if the service was kind of spotty at times.

Great ocean view!

Posted Aug 9, 2014
Pros: Ocean view.
Cons: Lots. Could be a great resort with a little bit of money spent on the esthetics of the hotel.
Great ocean view, but sadly that's it. The hotel is seriously aged, and is in need of some tlc. I could see how it would have been great 30 years ago. Room was comfortable, with a great view of the ocean. It had been partially redone recently and still needed a bit more. The staff were not friendly, with most of them walking by without even a greeting. Th worst part of the entire experience was after having booked and payed for the room on expedia, I was asked to pay $4 on checkout, for what they say was an error in that I was charged the wrong rate. It wasn't the money, but just the fact that the hotel could waved the $4 simply for the inconvenience of it and the bad taste it left with us.

Pros: Absolutely the best hotel I have stayed at!! The view from our private deck was breathtaking. The bathroom was beautiful.
The whole experience was terrific, from the room to the staff to the diningroom. I will definitely return.

Great view of ocean

Posted Jul 23, 2014
Pros: Location & view
Cons: We visited the hotel restaurant for breakfast & it was the worst food ever. Had to send it back & argue to take off the bill. Too pricey as well.
Location: Just stayed for the night on our way down the coast.
Our room had a great patio that overlooked the ocean. Stunning sunset. Room was average, nice big patio. A bit dated though.

Gorgeous view!

Posted Apr 22, 2014
Pros: I loved the view and room decor.
Cons: There was a coat hook right above the door's peep hole which could be dangerous if someone looks out but doesn't notice the hook, should be removed.
Location: Bay House restaurant is only a few minutes away. Delicious if you are looking for fine dining and Pig N Pancake is always a good choice for breakfast.
The hotel has absolutely beautiful accommodations and views. It went above and beyond what I expected and my only regret was not being able to stay longer. The room decor is very elegant yet practical because I still felt very much at home (but in a good way). The staff was very friendly and they even allowed us to check in early without any hassle.
