A classic hotel.

Location: White River Junction is a quirky mix of old-timers and funky young students. Revolution is a unique vintage clothing store. Queechee gorge and village
We made a last-minute reservation, sight unseen. The room was lovely and the staff was attentive. The building itself was fascinating, with wide stairways and ornate moldings. The whole place had a very old-fashioned feel to it. There was a fire burning in the lobby and several nooks with overstuffed furniture and books.

Very quaint New England hotel.

Pros: I like the hotel's charm and history. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is very old, but charming. Noise travels between rooms, so hopefully you have neighbors who have a similar bed time.

Another side of Vermont

Location: Surprising the number of excellent food choices that were within walking distance
It was very pleasant and a wonderful change from the cookie cutter hotel chains. The room was large and well appointed. Although there was an elevator it was pleasure to walk up the staircase to the rooms (which are air conditioned) like people did in the 1800's when the hotel was first built. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was vey good too, close to all of the attractions on both sides of the border. he biggest surprise was some of the best restaurants in the area were right in White River Junction.

great if traveling by rail

Pros: Convenience and a comfortable lobby.
Cons: Breakfast not available early in morning.
Location: Very convenient to the railroad station.
We arrived by train and the hotel was just a short walking distance away. It is an old hotel but it was clean and pleasant. I would stay there again.

Worse than awful.

Posted Aug 6, 2012
Cons: Everything.
We arrived at the hotel at 2 pm and had a funeral to attend. Check in time was 4 pm. The woman at the desk was curt and unfriendly, reminding us sternly that check in time was 4 pm. She allowed us to change our clothes in a "conference room." The room looked like it hadn't been refurbished since the 1930s. It also smelled and was extremely hot. There was a room air conditioner, and the woman told us to turn it off when we left the room. The hotel is OLD and SMELLY, and the staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. Do yourself a favor. Don't stay here. Allow them to go out of business. Maybe someone who understands the word "hospitality" could buy it and turn it into a nice hotel.

Older hotel

Charming building in many ways, but not being maintained well. Staff made up for some of the deficiencies, as they were pleasant. Parking was a problem in that it was behind the building in a dark area & there was no light or other indicator for their "back entrance". (I was told that someone "turned off the light".) Fortunately a safe town.

A good night's sleep.

Pros: Everything is spacious; hallways, stairways and room.
Location: Across from the railway station in a nicely redeveloped area.
Very quiet area, well kept old hotel with few amenities but a comfortable bed in a large clean room.

Old-fashioned Vermont Charm

Posted Dec 27, 2011
Pros: Large lobby with fireplace
Cons: Nothing
Location: In historic downtown area
This is an old-fashioned hotel in an historic building with lots of charm in the downtown area of White River Junction. A traditional lobby with a fireplace, large hallways and rooms with arm chairs, a desk, etc. I thought it was delightful!
