A little dissapointed

Posted Aug 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
I chose this hotel based on its location thinking what a great deal I found - well the room was a little bit too basic to my liking and on the arrival we were welcomed by not so nice receptionist telling me off for not contacting them as we were late for checking in. Well I told him that I sent them an email 4 days ago and heard nothing back - he backed off. Anyway, we were told that kitchen is open till 9pm if we want to have a dinner - at 8pm I went down to get menus only to be told that the chef had an emergency and had to leave - yeah whatever - the hotel was so empty that he couldn't be arsed to stay. So we went to explore the little village only to find out that I made a big mistake by booking this hotel - only not even 5 mins walk was this lovely pension called Na Vyhlidce with great waiting staff and half the price rooms. The hotel were we stayed was OK in terms of the room but everything else was poor - I don't know, maybe I am spoilt but a good customer service is just MUST in hospitality, right? We will be coming back to the location but definitely won't be staying in this hotel again. Sorry guys but you have to learn

A great place to stay in Hrensko

We had a very memorable and pleasant stay at the hotel. To begin with, when we arrived, we missed the bus that takes us from Hrensko to Mezna where the hotel is located. The hotel staff were very accommodating when we called them and immediately sent someone to pick us up! This saved us so much time as the next bus was in 2 hours!! The hotel staff continued to be very friendly and accommodating throughout our stay there. The best part about the hotel is their very cosy spa, that you have to book in advance by at least an hour. The spa is private and can accomodate 2 people comfortably. It has a jacuzzi for two, sauna (can comfortably accomodate 4 people at a time) and a shower. It was just great relaxing in the spa after a long hike. The food at the restaurant is good and they have a decent bar. The location has a bus stop just a few meters away that can take you to Mezna Louka (from where most of the interesting trails start) and Hrensko village. But the buses are quite infrequent (at least during the off season). Otherwise it is about 2km walk to Mezna Louka from the hotel, from where there are more buses to Hrensko village. Taxis are quite cheap (about €10-€15) from Hrensko village to the hotel, but make sure you call the cab at least half hour before, especially if taking the cab from the hotel to somewhere. Take czech kroners with you. While most places take euros, you will need the kroners for buses and some local shopping and dining.
