“Awesome chachagua bungalows”
The place and staff were amazing!!! However a tv would be a great addition to the bungalows!!! Specially if traveling with children
“Wonderful place!”
Great location, superb ambience and absolutely blissful. Prime birdwatching location. Local trails are well maintained and serene. Kids rode horses with the local cowboy and also were allowed to milk cows!! You have to be early - 6am to be able to watch how a working farm operates. Place is unique and one leaves with an experience of lifetime. We had heard about Cristian - the local guide, but could never locate him. Nevertheless, it was wonderful experience. You will need 4x4 as the 2 km road leading to the farm is challenging - especially when raining. Also keep in mind that La Fortuna is about 25-30 minutes from this place.
“Chachagua Rainforest Hotel”
The roads to this hotel were awful, but the hotel was well worth the trip. We stayed in a bungalow - loved the hammock on the porch and the shower! Food was good, service was great.
“Very good”
Can't fault this hotel. Staff were great (morning staff as well as evening staff). Rooms 204 and 203 were great, grounds are great, pool a little cold (but then it is naturally fed from mountain stream), menu a little limited but then we travelled through lots of places in Costa Rica and most menus were limited, that said the food was very good as well. Saw lots of wildlife, pity we missed the baby sloth. Overall very good.
“Great experience in the rainforest!”
This hotel was terrific! Get ready for a bumpy ride (typical for any roads off the main road) down the mile drive to the hotel/bungalows, but once you are there, you are truly having a "rainforest experience"....The bungalow that we stayed in was really cool, with a great view of the river that goes across the roadway (you will need a 4 wheel drive to get around!) and lots of jungle plantings. The landscaping was surprising well maintained and the staff was extremely helpful. There is a working farm which you can visit as well as a jungle trail with a small waterfall. The hotel provides ponchos, umbrellas and boots to make the stay less wet! (Plan on lots of rain!) the hotel is about 15-20 minutes outside of La Fortuna, but it's a lovely drive back and forth with beautiful vistas on the way. The restaurant is terrific (they had a "Costa Rica" theme night while we were there with a reasonably priced buffet and they all dressed iin traditional costumes. It was lots of fun and the staff are all proud of their heritage (the staff all come from the immediate area) The hotel is working to preserve the original goals of the eco friendly style and has updated, but kept with the nature of the area. Our bungalow had a very large covered porch with a sofa, rocker, bar stools, and a hammock. I definitely recommend a stay here!
“Best natural hotel!”
This place amazing! Not only was the place as beautiful as described as in its website/photos, but the staff went out of their ways to help us with anything we needed. We had a great time just hanging out in the hotel properity-hiking in the forest, swimming in the pool, or just walking around checking out all the animals and plants. The only problem we had is not having our own car so it became very expensive to get out to do anything. (We knew that in advance). So if you have a car or if you don't have to leave the propority for few days, this is an ideal place!
