“It was a place to sleep.........................”

I had never stayed at this hotel before. The room was nice but not was I was expecting. It is what it says an "extended stay" hotel. I won't be doing that again. Price was good though.

“average hotel, not bad for being far from the city”

nothing special, can't complain for the price though. room was clean, one staff member was very friendly one was not. it wasn't in the best location, so if i do go back to that area i will probably stay somewhere else because it wasn't as close to campus or downtown area as other hotels were.

“Bait and switch, make sure you read all the terms and condictions.”

My whole experience was tainted from the start. I don't smoke and I choose not to be in places where there is cigarette smoke. When I checked into my room and found that I was being provided a smoking room, I was very annoyed. I expressed my concerns to the desk clerk and he was very courteous, but as the hotel was completely full, could reassign my room. I checked the terms that were on my reservation sheet and he was correct in that requesting a non-smoking room does not guarantee you one when you arrive. The clerk came and freshened the room somewhat, but you can't really make a dent in that with some fabric freshener. While the room was somewhat cramped, it is comparable to other hotels in Champaign that I have stayed at on par with this one. Apparantly in this Champaign, if you have two beds and a 3 foot space to walk, that is adequate. The maintenance of the room was, in general, sub par. The door keys were antequated, and were somewhat difficult to operate. Outside doors were designated as being locked between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM. I'm not sure if outside door on the stairwell that I used could be locked. All in all it was a pretty poor experience.

Area recommendations

The area around Prospect and Neil streets is pretty good. Lots of restaurants and such. Champaign is a college town, but it was pretty low key the times I have been there.

Events and shows

Illinois marathon in April/May. 10,000 + people participated in the events.

“Convenient to campus & comes with a kitchen”

Would recommend to anyone visiting U of I campus, especially for an extended visit. Beds were hard- a mattress on a platform, fine for me, but if had we stayed any longer my companion would have needed to ask for another room.

“High School Football Champs”

Great hotel, when Cary-Grive goes to state next year I will be staying there again. The hotel is close to everything you need!
