The room had no microwave and no refrigerator. It was a nonsmoking room but felt like it was full of smoke. There was a roll of tissue left on the bathrooms roll that was 3/4 used. The cable was horrendous. There was only like 15 channels. Will never stay here again!!!!!!

Horrible hotel!!!!!Posted Apr 8, 2014
This was the grossest hotel I've ever stayed at and will never stay again! I only chose it because everything else was booked for Mom's weekend at U of I but would have rather stayed on the sidewalk. Our first room had someone else in it when we walked in and our second room was supposedly non-smoking but the smoke smell was awful and woke us up throughout the night! Horrible!!!!!

Great Staff - Hotel Under RennovationPosted Apr 4, 2014
Cons: The cleanliness of the room needs a lot of improvement. The overall property itself feels unsafe both to our health and safety.
I book this for a one night stay to crash after a concert, the staff were wonderful, and I actually felt really bad for having to take off early on them because of the condition of the room. The windows were both shattered, mold all over the place, the bathroom door didn't even close, and there were holes in the walls. The bar lock on the door didn't even work correctly, and it was easy to walk right in. It was really disgusting to say the least. We decided to leave and go elsewhere. They offered us another room, but we kindly declined.

Smokey, Musty, at least it was close to things.Posted Mar 10, 2014
The staff had me wait to check in past the check in tine simply because no one was at the desk, after getting to my room (non-smoking) opened the door and a heavy scent of ashtray struck me. I couldnt get rid of that smell the whole stay, and have been rewashing my things to get the smell off. On my first night they tried to double book my room so I was surprised by a gentleman attempting to enter my room late at night. The front desk also called my room on multiple occasions only to hang up when I answered. So, overall, I would not recommend, of course I suppose that was my fault for thinking I could get a half decent stay for that price, even though I have before with other establishments. Red Roof Inn was terrible for me. Probably great for drunk college kids though.

Broken lock on room doorPosted Feb 24, 2014
Pros: The staff were all extremely friendly and nice.
Cons: The facilites are all rather dated - the broken door lock was just a symptom of a larger overall problem I believe.
Location: I couldn't get a hotel room closer to the U. of Illinois campus on short notice, but this hotel is only a short drive or $10 cab ride from campus.
After returning to the hotel after an evening out with old friends, I found that the lock on my room door would blink green but would not open when the key was swiped. I went to the front desk and the woman working overnight, Jess, made me a new key and brought her own master key to try to get me into the room. We stood out in the cold and snow working on the door for about 30 minutes with no luck. Jess was very apologetic and polite, but we were both cold and miserable. Ultimately she let me into another open room to warm up a bit while she worked on the door. Eventually, her boss, who happened to be saying overnight on site, heard us outside and came to help. I would have taken up their offer to sleep in another room until they could get maintenance there in the morning, but I needed to get to my belongings to take out my contact lenses, etc. Ultimately, they got me into my room at 4am. Jess said that she would recommend that I get a credit on my final bill, but at checkout several hours later the day shift person at the front desk, while polite, couldn't accomodate that recommendation because I had already paid for the room through Expedia.
