Delightful experience

Posted May 20, 2014
Location: We just enjoyed walking about town and seeing ceramics and handicrafts that we had not seen in our experience. Wonderful people everywhere!
We loved staying at this hotel. It has been in their family for over six generations and was once an old castle. They have kept features of the old structure and combined these with modern additions to a beautiful effect. When we sat in the courtyard, tourists continually came by (sometimes in large groups) to look into the space to appreciate what has been done to make this hotel an airy, lovely home for travelers. The room we stayed in was very comfortable, very clean, and had all the items one tends to need when traveling--hair dryer, shampoo, creams, etc. I loved the way the room was appointed in furnishing--simple, elegant, unique. The internet rocked and we had no problems with it--which has not been our experience in other hotels. Our breakfast options were sumptuous--and plentiful. Many of the offerings were made by the mother of the establishment--delightful Greek treats we had never had the luxury of tasting before. The wait staff there was most accommodating to the patrons tastes each morning. They were open-spirited and helpful--full of welcome and smiles. The real hit for us was the entire staff. They were incredibly engaging and warm with us. We felt as though we were staying with beloved relatives. They helped us find great restaurants, gave us recipes for some of the breakfast delights, and asked about our comfort whenever we met. These people gave us a genuine understanding of the Greek spirit.

Casa Delfino

Pros: A high quality hotel, well run and very well situated to enjoy exploring the lovely town of Chania.
Cons: Cannot think of anything.
Location: The hotel is situated near the far end of the outer harbour, which is the nicest part,in my view and behind the hotel is a maze of interesting streets
An excellent hotel in a very good location in a quiet pedestrianised street near the lovely harbour. The room was comfortable, with a balcony overlooking the courtyard. The breakfast offered a wide choice of food and the staff were happy to supply any hot dishes you required. The breakfasts were taken in the courtyard which is an outstanding part of this old converted villa. As all the 22 rooms are different it is not possible to give any advice on choice of rooms, other than to say that as there are no lifts to the standard rooms, given its conversion from a villa,if you do not like too many stairs it is better to ask for a room on the first, rather than the second floor. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Great all round!!

Pros: Elegant building steeped with history, spacious rooms, well furnished and extremely clean, beautiful courtyard and dining area, great location.
Cons: The only thing extra you could wish for is a swimming pool, although the hotel does have a rooftop spa. Local beach is about a 1km walk away.
Location: Perfect location on the old port harbour and right in the middle of the old town, you can spend hours walking through the maze of ancient streets.
Beuatiful hotel and location, friendly, courteous and helpful staff, I'd return to Casa Delfino every year if I had the time off!!

Beautiful room and friendly, helpful staff. The only drawback was that the tiles in the shower/tub needed to be regrouted.
