Ideal location in the middle of the old city. We stayed in a superior room which was well equipped, very clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would stay again.

Situated in a quiant alley in old town Chania, this hotel was absolutely fantastic. The staff was wonderful and the room was large and beautifuly decorated. I would say the only downside was the slightly harder mattress. The area around the hotel has tons of shopping, dining, and cute cocktail bars. I will definitely be staying here the next time I'm in Chania.

Unique stay for Chania
This is a unique, family style, charming hotel right in the centre of Chania with great access to the Venetian harbour side. Very good hosts but overall the hotel was a little unpolished. Those who find this kind of thing unpretentious and charming will enjoy staying here as we did. People who prefer the more modern approach might choose a chain hotel instead. The main thing we didn’t like was the dated and poorly lit bathroom. If the bathroom were updated, it would be a perfect room really.

great place to stay while in Chania. Right in the od town district w/ tons of ambiance. If you need a taxi, it will come right to the hotel's front door providing it's before 7:30 am. I would love to come back here. Highly recommend.

Just about perfect
Lovely week in Chania and in the Doge. Although the Doge seems to run on just one front of house lady (the lovely Hope), the welcome, the care and the comfort are superb. The Doge is not easy to get to with case she (but none of the old town hotels are because cars are excluded and parking is outside the town centre), but it is worth a little effort. It is situated just one block away from the bustling, noisy, harbour front and that makes it perfectly placed. Rooms are generously sized with excellent facilities and everything you could need is within just a few yards....plenty of good restaurants (traveller's tip........avoid the harbour front and eat one or two blocks inland for better quality and lower prices) and lots of shops. We strongly recommend the Doge for its blend of quality for price.

Pack light as access is through the old town by foot. No parking nearby. But worth the effort.

This hotel has a great location right in the heart of the old venetian harbour in Chania. It is located in a small cobblestoned street so you have to take your luggage a little way, a car can't stop at the door. The hotel had a cafe/bar in the few tables it has downstairs & serves buffet breakfast which has some interesting things. No elevator so you need to drag your luggage upstairs. Great location with shops directly outside the door, but can be noisy of an evening. Accommodation was nice, good size bathroom with weak showerhead. Good option for the area.

Pleasant stay - easy enough to by counting the number of streets but street also named. 4-5 minutes walk from the free car park behind the castle. 10 seconds walk from the harbour. Room was good - there's not much of a lobby in the hotel - really just a breakfast room to walk through. Once I had the key I didn't see the manager again, but I didn't need to either. All fine and dandy. Happily stay again. It was a nice an quite area during the off-peak season (January).

A perfect base for exploring Chania.
We had researched hotels and decided that we wanted a central position in the old town. We had worries that it would be noisy at night but we're very pleased that the street was quiet in the evenings. The hotel staff were delightful and breakfast was varied and of good quality. It's ashame that the roof terrace wasn't available. With comfy seats and shade it would be a real asset. We would certainly recommend it for a visit if you want to be within striking distance of all the facilities of Chania.

Perfect for short breaks
Booked this hotel as our first stay in Chania old town and it was just perfect. Close to restaurants, attractions, shopping and beaches. Couldn't be better. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful and the friendly staff were very attentive. Would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. In fact, we have stayed in four-star accommodation that wasn't remotely as good as this.

Great hotel in a nice area. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was super cute and pretty comfortable. It was a little noisy outside but I kind of expected it being in that part of town. The bed was a little hard, the air conditioner had a bright light and for some reason it stopped in the middle of the night. But all in all I would recommend staying there.

Awesome apartment sytle room in Hania
The room was really cool, had kitchette, table for eating, canopy bed, couch, overall just a real cute room. Good AC, TV, etc. Bathroom was large enough as well. Very convenient to the venetian-style harbor. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Bus station is less than a ten min walk. There is also a bus that goes from airport to bus station, very affordable. Breakfast was good, fresh fruits, juices, etc. Great stay!

Fabulous location in the heart of the old town.
Two mins from gorgeous Venetian harbour. Located on a narrow cobbled street with plenty of nearby tavernas. The only negative is when walking past the restaurants on the harbour or looking in a shop you are bothered by the staff to come in and "buy".

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the room was clean with a fabulous balcony and the location was prime. My only complaint would be that the bed was extremely hard and the shower was not set up to prevent the water from ending up all over the bathroom. That being said, for all the pros, it is easy to overlook the cons.

What a disapointment
Not really an hotel, just rooms which seemed as if they were closed for the winter. Very dark inside and you needed to press the light switches to light the staircase. We didn't have any tea making facilities and the bottom shelf of the fridge was missing so it was impossible to stand an open bottle in the fridge. The bathroom was very small and the shower tray was cracked.Whilst they offered a variety of food, sweet cakes etc, for breakfast, the only bread offered was warmed burger buns. It didn't live up to the photographs on your website.

Great 5 day break in the Doge with my son. Having read reviews mentioning the best rooms were in the main building, we asked for one but none were available when we arrived at around 10.30 am, so the room we had, No.2 was across the narrow road in the annex. At least we didnt have to hang around for a room to be vacated. The room was very clean and they made up the second bed and provided additional clothes hangers very promptly.The only minor complaint was the bathroom was very cramped, hardly any space for toiletries and the only towel hangers were next to the curtainless shower.Sitting on the loo your knees and face would be more or less touching the wall.!! Breakfast was ok but fairly limited space outside in the alley and although no fault of the hotel, our breakfast experience was spoiled by what appeared to be the German women's smoking team that occupied three of the four tables most mornings. Overall the girls in the hotel were very helpful, organised a taxi for our early morning departure and even gave us a breakfast tray the night before. Restaurant tip - can def recommend the Palace, walk down to the harbour, turn right and walk around 100m. Chef Costas trained in London, food was brilliant, ate there 3 nights out of four!!

Excellent hotel - lovely stay
My husband and I stayed here for three nights during our honeymoon. The room was beautiful, spotless and comfortable. Our view over the rooftops was lovely. The staff went beyond the call of duty to be helpful and make suggestions for things to do around the city. Breakfast was included and there was a huge variety of options and plenty of it. The location is ideal, in a beautiful part of the Old Town, but it isn't noisy and you feel removed from all the bustle outside your door. We had a lovely stay and would definitely return.

Excellent location and very friendly staff. They provided me with a full cold breakfast the night before my departure, bringing it to my room as I was to leave before breakfast was served. Room was spacious and with a nice antique ambience, the only downsize is that to get to it there were two floors of stairs which was not bad. The free Wifi worked very well.

Stayed here twice during a two week vacation in Chania. We tried 3 other hotels and came back to the Doge. Great romantic rooms with lots of space. Breakfast is worth the price. Great coffee, breads and fresh juice. The staff is very friendly and remembered us when we came back. Very helpful with any questions regarding the area. Very clean and comfortable.

Picturesque location
What fun to be able to sit outside in the morning and watch the street wake up. I loved having my breakfast outside watching the storekeepers open up and the delivery via motorcycles thru the narrow street.
