Frightened by the Monster in my Room!Posted Oct 10, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location! Closeness to airport and other places for food and entertainment within walking distance.
Cons: Cleaniless! Pest control!
Location: It is near the airport and a Tanger Outlet Mall, Walmart, movie theater, Bone Fish restaurant, and liquor store are within 10 minutes of the hotel.
On the surface, this is a very good hotel--great location, great exercise room, and lots of plusses such as closeness to a Tanger Outlet Mall, Walmart, liquor store, and good restaurants. But the last two times that I have been disappointed by having ants in my room, a monster palmetto bug sharing the room with me, and a door to my room that I could not lock. In the scheme of things these are minor irritants, But they are things that make you wonder why such things have happened at what is actually a very good hotel. For the record, the next time that I am in Charleston I am going to stay somewhere else in order to avoid the chance of encountering and sharing my room with another monster palmetto bug.

Not what I expectedPosted Sep 28, 2014
The hotel looks like it should be upscale from the outside, but the interior of the rooms was lacking. It looks like corners were cut in the upfit. The ceilings were uneven and had the appearance of painted plywood. That alone left me wondering what corners were cut that I couldn't see. The room was stuffy and humid no matter what we did with the AC, as if the units were 20 years old. I was just really disappointed.

Clean and relaxing stay!Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: The staff always had a smile and asked if they could help--
Cons: the A/C!
Location: Just a skip and a hop from the Tanger Outlets of Charleston and very convenient to great restaurants & I-26 not to mention it was 10 min from downtown
We had stayed in one other Aloft hotel in Virginia a year or so back-- and when I found such a great rate online for the Charleston one, we jumped on it! I was not disappointed! It was at first hard to get the A/C to get things cooled consistently but that worked itself out. The lobby and hallways were stuffy and when I asked the front desk, they admitted an issue with the H-VAC and brought over a fan immediately to where we were playing pool. The bar is nice-- and the live music was great! I will stay here again-- My back has issues so the bed hurt my back but that was me! Most people are fine because it is made up with high quality linens, pillows, etc. I don't know if this is a usual thing but if we forgo housekeeping on the repeat nights, they give you a voucher that can be used for breakfast or other foods-- which were delicious!

Do not stay here!Posted Jul 25, 2014
The staff was very rude and did not offer any assistance with check in! The room had an unpleasant scent, holes in the carpet, hairs in/on the toilet, mildew in the shower, the body wash dispenser was empty, we had fleas in the room, the walls were extremely thin allowing you to hear everyone's conversations/tvs! If it had been only $40 a night, I would probably expect most of these issues, but given the rate for this place they definitely need to step it up! The only nice thing about this hotel was the front parking spots reserved for hybrid vehicles, which weren't enforced as they could've been! Please do not stay here!

Hotel was nice. Maid was very rude. We slept in until 1030. We were on vacation (suppose to sleep in) and when we left the room at 11 she was sitting by the elevator and said we were holding her up. I really didn't appreciate the comment.

Upscale hotel without the expensive billPosted Jul 15, 2014
Pros: The location, the atmosphere, the bar and rooms that are finally different than the average hotel
Location: Shopping directly across the road, airport near by and a 15 minute drive to historic Charleston
Needed a place to stay close to Charleston for a night and found this awesome hotel. Very modern and up beat. The lobby has a nice little bar, pool table and market style café. The room was very nice, clean and had all the things one could want. For those of you with teenagers or kids you can bring your game consoles and plug them into a box which connects them to the tv system. Awesome idea. Right across the road is outlets and the airport isn't far. If your a light sleeper the aircraft may bother you but for my spouse and I it didn't bother us any.
