TERRIBLE HOTEL ROOM

Posted May 28, 2015
STAFF WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND HOSPITABLE UPON ARRIVAL BUT IT WENT DOWNHILL FROM THERE. CARPET DIRTY, BATHROOM SHOWER CURTAIN ROD FALLING OFF WALL, SHOWER HEAD HAD LOW PRESSURE AND WAS FILTHY. TOILET SEAT WAS BLOCKED IN UPRIGHT POSTION BY SHELF. ROOM WAS SMALL AND CRAMPED. NEEDED BULB REPLACED- WAS NOT AVAILABLE AFTER HOURS. BREAKFAST WAS COMPOSED OF INSTANT OR POWDERED EGGS, COFFEE WAS ALSO NOT REAL COFFEE, SAUSAGE WAS POOR QUALITY. WE HAVE STAYED AT BEST WESTERN BEFORE AND HAVE BEEN HAPPY BUT THIS WAS THE WORST WESTERN RATHER THAN A BEST WESTERN.

Avoid this hotel

Posted May 26, 2015
Pros: Staff was polite.
Cons: Cleanliness, needs updating.
Location: Convenient to downtown Charleston.
We were extremely disappointed with the size and cleanliness of our room. The sheets and pillowcases were stained, dingy, and threadbare - they did not look clean. The carpet was filthy and the bathroom was dirty. The toilet seat was very crooked which gave you the sensation of falling into the toilet bowl...lol. I had to ask for new pillowcases twice in order to get some that we felt safe sleeping on. The next morning we asked for our room to be cleaned while we were out. When we returned late that night, nothing had been touched. I complained to the night clerk who was very apologetic and said she did not know why our room was not cleaned. The staff was polite, but just couldn't seem to get anything accomplished. The room was much smaller than it appeared on the website. Quite cramped for 4 adults.

close to Shem creek

Pros: clean, comfortable
Good spot, close to Shem Creek. Lots of good eats close by. Only 15 minutes from Market Street and Battery Walk too. One third of the price of downtown, went there for dinner and shopping but also enjoyed restaurant at Shem Creek. Great location. 25th trip to Charleston over as many years so know my way around.

No southern hospitality.

Pros: room clean
Cons: customer service
Location: close to highway 17
I had to come to Charleston for MD appointments early am and also attend a relative funeral in the afternoon. When I finished a long morning of appointments, I called the motel around 1:30pm to verify their location. The first thing desk clerk asked, "are you trying to check in?" My answer was no, I understood it was way too early to check in; but I had hoped since I was staying there that night, I could come change into my clothes for the funeral in the bathroom lobby. Clerk informed me bathroom lobby was being painted, so I could not change there. I asked her if there was anywhere I could change for the funeral, anywhere would do, and the answer was no. I said; "well I guess I will have to find a gas station or somewhere to get dressed." She said yes and hung up. I found a gas station in Mount Pleasant that was accommodating and changed and made it to funeral on time. When I checked in later that night at 1030pm, after visiting with family and friends, the desk clerk called me "sweetie" 3 times and never addressed me by name. The room was nice and breakfast okay, but morning desk clerk when I turned in my keys at 0730am barely acknowledged me and did not say a word. There was no thank you for staying or how was your stay? I had paid for this room fully in advance, as I travel extensively and most Best Westerns have been good. I will NEVER stay at this one again or recommend solely based on the lack of hospitality or caring. The staff needs some classes in customer service.

My family found this the perfect place to stay to be close to Charleston as well as all that Mt. Pleasant has to offer.

Hotel close to attractions.

Pros: Clean and quiet.
Location: Fort Sumter tour and USS. Yorktown aircraft carrier were just down the road. and Downtown Charleston is just across the bridge. Good location.
This hotel was nice, clean, and quiet. It was located close to the Navy ships on display in the harbor and the tour boat to Fort Sumter.
