Great location, quick straight ride to historic district. Good value for the price. Very friendly, helpful staff, nice hot breakfast to start the day.

Close to downtown without the pricePosted Jun 10, 2014
Pros: The location, breakfast, staff
Cons: Some minor updates are probably needed
Location: Best thing about the property is the location. A very short drive to downtown.
I booked this hotel because it was a VIP access hotel and I could use my hotel coupon and get a better value. The location of the property is great as it is close to downtown but far enough away to keep the price down. Free breakfast was good and the staff was friendly. The only negative would be some minor details like a fixture in the bathroom was loose and the tub didn't drain very well but other than that it was fine.

Staff and cleanliness could be much better.Posted May 31, 2014
Pros: The rate.
Cons: Cleanliness and staff attitude.
Location: About 10-15 minutes to the beach, depending on traffic. A bunch of high end car dealerships around.
My husband, myself, and our two daughters stayed here a week ago for one night, and did get a good deal on the room, however I would have gladly paid more for better quality, and totally should have. The room we were given had hair from previous people still on the bed. When my husband went to the front desk, some housekeeper came to our room, and proceeded to just leave one set of sheets in a room with two beds. Then only changed one bed, and we had to call the front desk to get more linens for the second bed (which was the one with hair in it). The breakfast wasn't too great, and neither was the hostess at the breakfast bar. The woman at the front desk was very pleasant, but that's all I can say good about this place.

We were put in a room in a second building on the second floor. No elevator in second building. The only way to the lobby and eating area was through parking lots, around the pool (or around the first building) with no shelter nor walkways. Being a senior citizen, climbing all the stairs and walking through parking lots was very inconvenient. The room was clean and comfortable but not anything special. For the price we paid, I expected a little more.

My stay at the Sweetgrass Inn.Posted May 28, 2014
Pros: Breakfast and location.
Cons: Bathrooms could be better, Water drainage should be fixed as it takes forever for the tub to drain after a shower.
This hotel is convenient to everywhere. The public transit takes you down town in 20 minutes and runs frequently, $1.75. Transit downtown is free. This saves the aggravation of driving in the congested traffic of downtown and saves parking fees. The convenient location on the Savannah Highway makes travelling by car easy to get to Folly Beach and other attractions that are not downtown. The only thing that this hotel could use is renovation of its bathrooms and water drainage system. I have stayed at this hotel 3 times and will stay on my next trip to Charleston, SC.

Decent HotelPosted May 23, 2014
The hotel was decent but not wonderful. The bed was uncomfortable but it was clean. The WiFi was incredibly slow! One night we worked at Starbucks just to get what we needed done. Management called us after we told them and said they were in the process of getting a new provider so hopefully that will help. All the staff we ran into were very friendly. The breakfast was delicious and they had several options. The juice was pretty watered down, but I haven't found a continental breakfast that isn't the case. The pool was nice and they even had noodles you could use. Overall I would say for the price this is a fine place to stay as long as they fix the WiFi.

Close to historic old Charleston.Posted Apr 19, 2014
This property is located across the Ashley River from the Charleston proper. Only 4 miles to the visitor center and the very large concentration of historic homes, many of which are open to the public. It is just as close to most of the plantations located in the opposite direction from Charleston. Best yet, it is less than 10 miles from the airport AND only a few hundred feet to Bessinger's - the yummiest, moderately priced, family BBQ place we have ever found on vacation! We had their BBQ items four times in six days. The Best Western itself is clean and has a good free breakfast selection. Pillow-top bed was quite comfortable. Complementary small frig and microwave is a nice touch. Two large grocery store are close by so you can stock up on drinks, snacks, even TV dinners. A clean, fairly large swimming pool dominates the courtyard between room blocks. All planting beds and trees are well cared for. Would have no problem recommending the property to friends and family.

Very comfortable rooms, no noise, good breakfast.Posted Apr 18, 2014
Our family had a very nice stay in this hotel, close to Charleston, on the right side to proceed easily to Magnolia and Middleton Plantations. Rooms were clean, the staff very helpful, the breakfast offered enough choice and was tasteful. We would return to the same hotel when visiting Charleston again.
