“1st time in Charleston. Too much to take in on short visit!”
Good view of harbor. Plenty of hot water but very slippery bath tub floor in spite of non-slip dots on bottom of bath tub. Good experience. Breakfast could benefit from more fresh fruit rather than canned; other wise quite varied and satisfying choices for breakfast. g
“Easy access”
nice hotel, clean and right of the highway. If I were to go back to Charleston I would probably stay downtown in the historic district so that we wouldn't have to drive everywhere and could walk around at our leisure. there was nothing really near this hotel, but the hotel itself was nice and I would go back for that reason.
“Few improvements recommended”
Others have complained about entry only thru the garage. This is not pretty, but avoids the problem of coming thru a lobby looking less than beautiful, and allows you all the time you need to get your stuff together and up the elevator. Elevators are slow, especially at check-out time. Bathrooms need vent fans!! Found a pair of "unmentionables" on floor of closet. All else was very satisfactory. Would probably go there again.
“Good Location & price”
This hotel is not in the Historic District but is less than 10 minutes away by car. The drive is easy once you know the way. The patio area on the main floor has a nice view of the marina. The staff was very helpful with dining tips. Parking is free. The gym in the hotel is quite small but there appeared to be a running/walking path along the water. All in all a nice hotel for the price.
“East Ashley, on the water, convenient to MUSC”
This hotel seems most appropriate for the traveler who brings a car, has business at the Medical University of South Carolina or Roper Hospital, and who isn't looking to eat dinner at the hotel. Parking is free, and there is a convenient fitness center. With the pool, the deck, and many of the balconied rooms overlooking the marinas on the Ashley River, it's best in the warmer months. In comparison with other chain properties in the MUSC area, the rooms (and the price) are a step up, and there is a charge for breakfast. It's not a place for walking--better to stay downtown if you want to walk to dinner or to see the sights of Charleston.
“Will use this hotel again”
Very nice hotel. Love the giant veranda for sitting out in the evening air sipping a cocktail and watching the boats. Front desk staffing, while very helpful, could have used more bodies to handle guests concerns and requests. A full service restaurant with late night room service would really have been ideal.
“Location a problem”
The hotel is generally quite lovely and well-maintained. Staff is very helpful. Unfortunately, the center of town is difficult to walk to, should you wish not to take your car everywhere. The restaurant serves only breakfast, which is a bit of a drawback. As long as location is not a big issue, this is a fine place to stay.
“A confortable option to visit charlston”
Very confortable option to enjoy a beutiful town. The courtyard was an excelent choice.
“A good place to stay”
We booked this hotel for an anniversary trip to Charleston. It is a quiet and good place to stay, the staff was very friendly. The only downside is that you have to travel by car or take a taxi for every trip into town, since it is impossible to safely cross the highway. Getting a taxi in Charleston is a little problem, but one gets used to the wait ... Still beats paying triple prices at the downtown hotel.
“A good jumping off point for local travel”
Our goal was to explore the area versus stay in a luxury hotel and enjoy all the amenities, so this worked for us. View of the marina is lovely!April's a bit cold for most to swim in the outdoor pool but I found it perfect, being a Northerner. Clean, well maintained and polite staff.
