“Great location, great staffs, lovely hotel... I LOVE IT!!!”

Hotel is in the CENTER of French Quarter, walking distance to all the major attractions. Put on your walking shoes and arm yourself with good map (AAA walking maps #1 and #2) in the day time and dine in at great restaurants in the neighborhood at night (from $ to $$$$) within walking distance. Hotel staffs are friendly and helpful. Don't forget to name each and everyone of them (sorry... I forgot some of them). They will go beyond their job duties to serve you. I love my continental breakfast being brought to my room in the morning. I also enjoy their afternoon wine/cheese at around 5pm. Ask for the rooms toward the back to avoid the traffic (cleaning trucks) noise in the early hours.

“Loved my stay at Fulton Lane Inn - convenient”

The concierge was great and recommended two local restaurants that were delicious and she was otherwise great, and enjoyed that it was right there on King St. Very convenient. Great service, breakfast delivered to room and love the historical aspect of the place. It's good to go local!

Area recommendations
Love Charleston in general, old churches, historical homes, shopping, museums, fort sumter, aquarium, market street, restaurants, college of charleston, on and on. Recommend staying right in the mix on or by King St. so you can walk around.

“All you could ever want”

Centrally located on King Street, feet from the start of the market on Market Street, a couple blocks from the start of Church Street. An easy walk to almost any location. We had a manageable walk down to the battery, over to rainbow row, and up to the aquarium. Also just blocks from all the best restaurants: Poogan's Porch, 39 ru de Jean, 82 Queen, etc. The shops directly around the hotel make this the "Rodeo Drive" of Charleston; Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and several antique shops make this a VERY upscale part of town. But enough with the location, the Inn itself was everything we wanted it to be. Quaint and cozy with 4-poster beds and garden tubs. Noise wasn't an issue despite being on the main thoroughfare, though hall noise was a little noticeable during the day. At night the clientele is nice enough to keep quite and sleep came easily. Temperature was maintained via full in-room central air control. You could change the temperature of the room 10-15 degrees in minutes. Breakfast (in the form of bagels, cereal, pastries, coffee, OJ, etc.) is delivered every morning to your door along with a free paper. Also, there is free Wi-Fi. Basically we stayed there 3 days and not once did we find ourselves in need of anything that wasn't already provided and not once did we feel that we were too far from the attractions of the city. One final note though, this is not your typical hotel filled with a buzz of people, despite being full we almost never saw another person.

Area recommendations
-King Sreet (all of it, 1-2 miles of shops and restaurants) -Market Street (covered open air market, THE place for the woven baskets) -Church Street (beautiful stretch of houses and churches) -Poogan's Porch (Best food in Charleston, great story, celeb magnet) -Five Loaves Cafe (coffee shop-like cafe with the best and most affordable lunch in town) -39 Ru de Jean (Best place for wine and dinner, very nice without being snobby) -The Griffon (Best pub in Charleston, best place for beer and peanuts, down by the water)

“Would definitely stay there when we visit Charleston again.”

The Fulton Lane Inn was the best "hotel" experience that we have had. And, we have stayed in Westins, Embassy Suites, etc. It was quaint, but the room was well appointed, clean and had all of the modern conveniences. The Inn Concierge was courteous and had all of the answers. She gave us directions so that we could find our way around town and quickly recommended a dinner establishment. She made our reservation in seconds. A complimentary breakfast is delivered to the room every morning -- coffee, tea, juice, fruit, cereal, milk, pastries, etc. The location was the best -- right in the middle of Charleston. We found the Inn online, without a recommendation from friends/family. We would highly recommend it to anybody with plans to visit Charleston, SC. Oh, and I forgot -- there is also a complimentary wine and cheese reception each evening that was a great start to the evening. And, before retiring for the evening, a glass of sherry was available in the lobby.

“Lovely and Comfortable Charleston hotel”

The Fulton Lane Inn has excellent staff - all are knowledgeable, efficient, and genial, and they gave us wonderful recommendations for places to eat, tours, bicycle rentals, etc. The rooms are lovely and super-comfortable. the quirky architecture (long hallways and different shaped rooms) and high ceilings felt like we were experiencing an authentic piece of Charleston. I can't wait to go back!

“Pretty awesome.”

I had a really great time in Charleston and this hotel/bed & breakfast was fantastic. It was in a great location, close to shops and the market and the historic area. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were big and clean. I got pretty excited about the 10 foot celings too. Absolutely recommend.

“Nice, cozy hotel in great location.”

Very friendly atmosphere at this hotel in Charleston. The lobby/reception is very small and could get packed if more than 2 guests would arrive at the same time. However, when you get to the rooms you'll be very happy to discover how spacious and impeccably decorated they are. Excellent location; close to everything in Historic District. Very good value. Breakfast is usually included. Would definitely come back.

“Great Location and Wonderful Accomodations and Staff”

The Fulton Lane Inn is a lovely and quaint hotel in a great location (walking distance from shops, restaurants, and attractions). The hotel rooms are very clean and spacious with comfortable beds. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. In addition, the hotel provides complimentary coffee in the morning and a complimentary sherry in the evening. Included in the price of the room is a continental breakfast (pastries, juice & coffee) or (cereal, yogurt, bagel, fruit, juice & coffee) either one is delicious and filling. You may choose to have your breakfast brought to your room or you can have your breakfast in a typical courtyard located a few steps away from the hotel. The parking lot is conveniently located behind the hotel, but the parking fee is not included in the price of the room. Note: Almost everywhere you go in Charleston, you have to pay for parking and the fee they charged was lower than other parking lots in the area. I highly recommend staying at the Fulton Lane and I look forward to returning to Charleston and staying there once again.

Shopping
There are plenty of nice shops on and around King Street near the Fulton Lane Inn. Everything is in walking distance.
Dining
I highly recommend dining at the Magnolia's Restaurant (185 East Bay Street) the food and service is excellant and the restaurant is simply lovely. Their prices are reasonable and the they have a good variety of dishes from which to choose.
Family-friendly activities
A trip to Fort Sumter is a must for both educational and historical reasons. You will need to go to the Ft. Sumter Visitor Education Center located at 340 Concord street. where you can take the ferry to the fort. I also recommend taking a carriage ride since you will be able to enjoy the scenery and learn a little about Charleston's history and it's inhabitants.
Other
My friends and I went to the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens about 25 minutes outside of Charleston. Although I found the place to be pretty and interesting, I do have a safety concern. The garden walk is a path surrounded by a swamp. Yes, a swamp with live alligators and snakes, and there is no barrier between the swamp and the visitors. In fact, while taking that nature walk we encountered an eight foot alligator resting in the murky water next to the path and later on we encountered a large snake (not sure what type). I do not recommend taking small children through the gardens, but if you do be very careful. I have been camping and hiking many times and in many different places throughout the world, but I have never felt so vulnerable and uncomfortable in a nature setting as I did in this "garden".

“Great Location/Nice Historic Hotel”

We stayed at this hotel during our visit to the College of Charleston. The hotel is adjacent to shopping and restaurants and is within walking distance to the college. We parked our car and walked everywhere. The hotel itself is very nice, well kept and clean. The inn keepers are very helpful and cheerful which gives the hotel a B&B feel. We will definately stay there again when we return to Charleston.
