“Lovely old house”

The first room we were assigned was in the basement of the main house and was rather loud because it was opposite the kitchen. We asked to be moved and they accommodated us immediately. Our new room was in one of the carriage houses and it was even bigger and nicer. The service was excellent, the Tempurpedic mattress was divine, the location was ideal, and the house -- especially the exterior -- was stunning. However, the bathroom was just a tad shabby. Overall we were very satisfied.

“Attentive Innkeeper”

One of the things that made for such a pleasant stay at the John Rutledge House Inn was the attentive help we got from the Innkeeper. Whether while she was serving tea for everyone upstairs, or just greeting you in the hallway, she was always ready to answer questions, make restaurant recommendations, or phone in dinner reservations. Very hospitable! Other than that, the hotel was charming, quiet, and very clean. We loved sitting out on the second-floor balcony during teatime, while enjoying the scrumptious appetizers and desserts sent over by a local restaurant.

“My new favorite hotel!”

We loved this hotel. We stayed in one of the carriage houses which looked out over a beautiful courtyard. The hotel was so close to everything we wanted to see, we were within walking distance of great shopping and superb eating!

“Great stay”

How incredible to sleep in a house built in 1763? The staff was totally professional, friendly, warm Southern hospitality, and more than helpful. My wife and I were more than pleased and the historic district is within walking distance.

“Best Hotel We Ever Stayed In”

This Bed and Breakfast was excellent. From the Breakfast in the morning to the location, it was tops. We stayed in the carriage house and it was large and extremely quiet. Great service from the staff. The manager found out my husband had the flu, within 5 minutes she had tea in our room. EXCELLENT SERVICE

“Wonderful and Romantic in Charleston”

This rehabbed mansion makes you feel like the 19th century south - warm and hospitable. The room we stayed in was contemporary and really comfortable. Enjoy the Tempurpedic mattresses. Short walk to where everything is happening. And Charleston is great!

“Carriage Room Was Great - Breakfast in the Garden; Super!”

Only negative - was the check-in; no internet access code was given and we had to call up for it later that night. Otherwise we had a wonderful time here and certainly met our expectations. Staff was super great!
