Nice hotel and close to places we wanted to see .

We slept well at this hotel. The continental breakfast was OK but would like more choices. The coffee was good. Overall a good experience. Transportation to downtown was great.

Apparently the manager sells rooms to Expedia/other hotel booking websites, and then doesn't claim them as booked when you get a room, and just sells your room to other customers if they get there before you... Currently they are having renovations, so there are NO rooms available. We drove 5 hours to get there, just to find out that we didn't have a room, even though we paid for one and everything. We showed them our confirmation number, but they already put someone else in OUR room. Tiffany was the employee helping us. She went above and beyond. There was a girl there before her that just ran out on us and left because she was too stressed to want to be there. So Tiffany came in and was so nice. (Not to mention there was 2 other large families she was helping). When she called the manager explaining the situation to him, he just brushed it off his shoulder and said he was staying home because he was already in bed. He said he would call us all in the morning to discuss what happened and work something out payment wise. After she hung up, the only hotel available (they said) was an hour away! After hours of looking online we found one hotel that had a room available and it was the Francis Marion (which I would highly recommend to anyone) it was DT Charleston so it worked out perfect. The next morning we waited for the Manager to call like he promised, and (no surprise) we received no phone call. We had to call him ourselves. In the end they paid for our first night away.

Construction ongoing for upgrades; workers start at 8:00 am; room had bad smell; not much of choice for breakfast; chairs in different in dining area cheap and uncomfortable

Disappointing

We requested a room for 2 adults and 3 children with the understanding that we would have a cot in addition to the 2 double beds. The problem was that the cot didn't fit! The only place to put it was stuffed between one bed and the dresser, which made it impossible to walk through the room. We have traveled and stayed in many hotels with our 3 children many times and never had a problem with an extra bed until now. We should have been given a larger room. The room was also not clean; there was visible dirt on the walls and ceiling and the carpets. Worst of all, my daughter found a toothpick in the bed the first night!

Low price means lower quality

Pros: The hotel is in a convenient location and the bed was comfortable.
Cons: The bedspread was stained. Breakfast ended at 9 which is too early and most of the food was gone by 8:15.
Location: Near Charleston with lots of shops, restaurants, and things to do.
The people at the front desk were not very friendly. Allowing dogs in the hotel meant we heard barking early in the morning. The sheets and towels were clean. The beds were comfortable. Breakfast was a big disappointment.

No mattress pad on bed. Bed ill made. Sheet had spot on it. Could see daylight under the room door. Bathroom had a dirty floor. We checked out after the first night 3/25 and stayed the next 3 nights in a Holiday Inn Express.

NIce clean rooms and facilities, in nice part of town close to historic Charlestown. Would recomend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

Pros: The location by the marina was nice. We parked at the hotel during our cruise and the hotel staff arranged our taxi to the port.
Location: We enjoyed being by the marina although the weather was not nice! The shuttle to Charleston downtown was a nice perk and saved us some hassle.
Hotel is older and is going through some remodeling. Noise did not affect our room/area, but elevator was not working, maybe due to the renovations. Noticed an old mattress in the trash the first night we arrived and that was unsightly but it was gone by the next day. Overall, it was a good stay. We spent one day in Charleston and then left on the Carnival Cruise Fantasy.
