OK for the price

Posted May 27, 2015
Booked room for Memorial Day weekend - price was around $150/night. The hotel location was great (right across Ravenal bridge in Mt. Pleasant), the staff were very friendly and responsive, and the grounds were pleasant. However, while the room is listed as a suite, it was really 1 room with a queen bed, pull out sofa (equivalent of a double bed), and minimal kitchen area. For 2 adult couples, this room didn't work well. The overall room was very small and the pull out was not suitable for an adult couple. The bathroom was functional but also very small. The "lap pool" was another disappointment - narrow and short with cheap plastic patio furniture. Overall - the low cost made it an OK value but nothing to be excited about.

Overall the trip was great and enjoyed ourselves. The room needs to be updated and the pillows need to be firmer but the staff was excellent and very helpful.

Disappointed with cleanliness

Posted May 20, 2015
Pros: The only positive about this hotel is the location. It is not a long drive from the beach.
Cons: Cleanliness and maintenance.
The room was very small, which is fine, but unfortunately I was not pleased with the cleanliness. The bathtub was disgusting. There was a mat inside the tub that would slide when you were taking a shower and underneath you could see it had not been cleaned in probabley months. Luckily we had flip flops to use in the shower. One of the towels had something sticky on it. I will definitely not be staying there again.

Destination Wedding Trip

Posted May 2, 2015 on Hotels
We had a pleasant stay for a long weekend (4 nights). The hotel staff did all they could to make our stay enjoyable. The location was ideal for our Charleston destinations (Rehersal dinner, wedding reception and local touring).

Good choice for Charleston

Posted Apr 24, 2015
Only a few minutes by car from the Battery and other interesting parts of Charleston. Found the facility clean and convenient with a pleasant and helpful staff. It's an extended stay model with the ,inherent plus and minus. Breakfast was limited to pastries, coffee, cereals and juice. Didn't have a chance while we were6there but6easy walking distanice to the bridge that can be walked across for a great view of the Charleston waterfront. Overall a good value and would use again.

Very ho- hum

Only adequate room, very small, not even room for a queen bed. Lousy morning breakfast. Many nicer chains adjacent, so I won't stay here again.

The condition of rooms were not in good condition

Posted Apr 3, 2015
Pros: The staff was nice.
Cons: Have the rooms cleaner, aired out before the next guest, improved the bathroom physical conditions and please give an exterminator in that building.
The room that we stayed in had leaky tub facet that wouldn't be shut off and as soon as we walked in several cockroaches were crawling on top of the shower. The condition of the bathroom was the most disappointing thing about our stay. It was obvious that there has been many repairs in the bathroom due to the terrible caulking (sloppy) around the bathroom fixtures. Room was stuffy and smelly when we walked in for the first time. We spent over two hundred dollars a night which it was disappointing because the conditions of the room was not up to that value. Also, we did not know until we arrived that housekeeping would not clean the room each day until our stay was completed. I have stayed in hotels for $70 per night that were a palace compared to the conditions and money spent to stay at this hotel. I will not be making any reservation again at Mainstay Suites.

Very unhappy!

Posted Mar 25, 2015 on Hotels
Unfortunately I was completely disappointed with Mainstay Suites. This is the first time I have stayed at one and it was not a good experience. It will be the last! We were unable to cancel our last night and get a refund when there was a change to our itinerary because we had booked through hotels.com and I just got the run around as to who was responsible and there was never a manager available to make a decision. When we got to our room the floor reeked of cigarettes even though I had a reservation for a non-smoking room. When I talked to the woman at the front desk she said they were completely booked and I could not change. Her explanation was that the floor was half smoking half non smoking. I have never heard of this setup which is a ridiculous one because the whole floor smelled like smoke and my family had sinus problems all weekend. The bed was so noisy, every time you moved it squeaked. I will never stay at a Mainstay again since I had to pay for a night that I wasn't there. And I did not receive the accommodations I requested.
