Nice hotel with a rooftop bar

Posted Jan 7, 2015
Pros: Rooftop bar and ambience.
Cons: Open the restaurant again.
Location: Great restaurants in walking distance. Also, a good location from which to run in the morning.
I have stayed here many times over many years and, generally, like the hotel and the location (although, for shopping, it is a long walk over to King Street). The restaurant was not open because the floors were being done. Other than that, I would certainly recommend the hotel to anyone looking to stay on the Battery.

Nice hotel

Great hotel. Beautiful room. Bathroom sink, however had a slow drain, but overall, it was a great room. The food and service at Grill 225 was amazing! We went to the Rooftop bar for dessert and coffee, but was told they did not serve any hot beverages. A little disappointing. We went across the street to Carvellas for dessert and coffee instead.

Perfect Location and Great Amenities

Posted Dec 27, 2014
From the moment we arrived on Christmas day, we knew we were in for a great experience. The Bellman and Valet were very helpful with bringing our luggage upstairs and parking the car. As we entered The Grand entryway greeted us with a spectacular Christmas Tree. We were greeted with smiles by the front desk staff and they were as helpful as possible. We then had dinner reservations at the Grill 225 where we had one of the best steak dinners I have ever had. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting Charleston, South Carolina as it is in the heart of the city. Next trip to Charleston I will definitely be staying here again. Hope this is helpful.

Cons: Doormen - could actually open the doors for you and use proper English
Family overnight stay was very pleasant and comfortable. Weird that there isn't really a lobby though.

It had pretty much everything

Excellent in every Way with the exception of the fine dining experience which had too formally a setting. Otherwise it was totally great.

Luxurious hotel in a great location

Posted Sep 9, 2014
The hotel is located in a great place, central to lots if activities which makes seeing the town easier. Rooms are beautiful and very plush. Entire decor is very glamorous. Staff was friendly and kind. Rooms came with free water daily which was helpful. Restaurant has amazing food and it's staff is quite dedicated to good service, but is very pricey. Few downsides- wireless is terrible, super unreliable. Pool hours are not great, it's very public as it flows into the bar, and turned my hair green. Tv was small which is ok but the cable was fuzzy at times.

Lots of Charm

Elegant and beautiful rooms and a lively rooftop pool and bar scene. Staff was great. We had a most enjoyable time. The hotel is located close to the Charleston market, the historic district & lots of good restaurants, so we could walk to everything. We would definitely stay here again.
